DRDT Appreciation

(spoilers for everything so far below)

I genuinely believe that drdt is the greatest, most well written media I’ve ever came across.

if it takes years to make a masterpiece, that’s completely fine, and even if it’s not perfect at first… well everyone starts somewhere, don’t they?

despair time is very well thought out. it’s unique and incredibly interesting!

xander, min, arei, ace are now dead unfortunately… but are they truly gone if there’s still much to learn about? each and every character of drdt is fascinating. yes, including the characters from dev’s Other Fangan and the side characters with either no name or no design. i’d quite like to know more about taylor riley, felicity giles, xf future tech, mariabella rosales, mai akasaki, literally everyone.

everyone is well written, and they do have flaws, but they’re not 100% hateable imo when you think about the lore and how BADLY a killing game fucks up peoples lives. also, if i almost died from someone trying to gain my trust and leading me in a room, then i think i’d act as coldly as teruko did too.

terukos such a sad character btw, i started crying when she did in ep16. the broken voice, the broken face when she’s calling the dead peoples names and blaming herself. drdt has made the title “Lucky Student” so much more interesting.

i cried a good few times while watching drdt, actually… but that’s not what’s important in this post. it’s that drdt is well made, and i love it no matter what.

(other stuff I love about drdt)

-The Team. you all are phenomenal. i mean it.

-ch2’s lack of a scrum debate. i thought it was clever considering no one was on ace’s side!

-the art. drdt dev i love your style so much its so beautiful, it’s changed my style too<3

(DRDT) My Appreciation

I'm genuinely proud of DRDT Dev and the team.

Zero joke here, this is my favorite episode in the series. This is proof that no matter the struggle, the outcome is well and truly worth it.

(Ch2 Ep16 spoilers below.)

- I love that the execution was based off of Ace's fears as opposed to his talent.

- Ace's speech to Arturo to save the life of someone he hated really stuck with me.

- Levi, the guy that says he doesn't care about people, take literal bullets for Teruko. (There's good in him.)

- Ace trying to execute himself as fast as possible to save Levi showed genuine humanity.

- Everyone rushing to Levi's aid proves that the cast is really starting to see themselves as team.

- Teruko's moment on her own in the trial room really opens up her inner character that we've all been craving, and it's my favorite part of the series so far. She tries to find out why she's here, and what this means for both her and everyone remaining, whether it's fate that makes her liable to everyone dead, dying, or affected.

I don't care whether or not there's a scrum debate or anything other minigame like that. DRDT isn't a massive team like other DR games or fangames, hence why it's been a long time between chapters and episode releases. And given how stellar this series is, and always will be in my book, I'll wait no matter how long it takes.

So dev just made a tweet confirming the next episode is the last.

I get some of you are upset but it’s making them feel bad for burning out and shortening the trial because he is so exhausted.

Please be thankful to dev and show appreciation to drdt and dev’s incredible hard work instead of continuing this other behavior.

It’s a death media, your faves might die. It’s episodic, the story might not go how you want or expect but it is Dev’s story and please respect them, the staff, the actors and your fellow appreciators of DRDT and fangan alike.
