If the Hootsman was to make a noise, would it be a hoot or a howl?
fanfiction is easy
World Burn from Mean Girls but it's Zargothrax singing. that's it that's the post
information post. how do you work this thing.
right
welcome to my Sick And Twisted blig. name's Dread! he/it, sometimes they, have fun with it
english is not my first language! i try my best
given that the title of this blog is destiny of steel, one would assume it's a gloryhammer blog. one would assume right. However ☝️
long ago in the distant future i have started making up my own lore based on lyrics of the songs, completely blind to most official details barring the fact that Ralathor used to work with Zargothrax (now retconned quite severely by official lore). i have not read any of the booklets until very recently some parts, and have only discovered the wiki about two months ago. which does mean my version differs very greatly from the band canon (official timeline is a suggestion that I am not taking) and thus has to be somehow differentiated. fear not! for it has a working title and I will state the main changes here
DREADVERSE: SEVERELY ABRIDGED
The main point of course is Ralathor. Dreadverse Ralathor is not from the Terrorvortex and does not jump around time and space too freely because I'm very finicky about time travel. summary: I dislike it mostly. that and the Main Villain Secretly Had A Clone thing. I'm sorry album 4. uhh. the other big change is that Ralathor in Dreadverse did work with Zargothrax until their eventual disastrous divorce split. he looks over the McFife family as their semipresent retainer/court wizard/big red emergency button in case things get weird and magical ever since Angus I, with. severely variable success. his immortality is taken far far far more literally. guy who can not die. does not get to die. that's about all, methinks
Dreadverse Angus XIII is, for reasons inexplicable, sixteen years old. This happened on its own and long before I could look into the wiki and find out he's band-canonically in his early twenties, and by that time it had already stuck. he's young he's dumb and he's full of steel. he has parents. they kind of suck. I've been thinking far too deeply of just how much of a bummer being a Chosen Hero is, which colours most of Dreadverse Angus XIII content.
Dreadverse Hootsman is approximately eighteenish in Album 1 times and nearly dies in the Epic Rage of Furious Thunder, . that's about all that has directly changed from band-canon, he's still an enormous ham and makes stellar decisions like (checks notes) conquering California
Dreadverse Proletius is perhaps less heroic than his band-canon counterpart. it's not like anyone but Ralathor and Hoots know that, though, because by the time of Space 1992 his image as Dundee's hero has largely overwritten the more unfortunate points of his personality and general self. Which reminds me of:
The Starlord Relics: oh boy. This is a relatively modern addition to Dreadverse lore, aided by my dear friend Basil, but, long story short - the Hammer is not Good and the Knife is not Evil. yeah the knife. that has Evil in its title. it's not Evil. yes I will elaborate
The Starlord Relics do not have a moral alignment, but do have a semblance of personality and very particular Motifs. The Hammer of Glory wants Glory, that is: high renown or honour won by notable achievements. Nobody said anything about the battles being fair, or the glory being won in a Good Way. Becoming the undisputed ruler of the entire galaxy would suit the Hammer just fine. In fact it encourages it.
The Knife of Evil is a misnomer. It does not make you Evil. What it does is purify you, in the most straightforward way possible - taking your strongest motives, traits, and desires, and amplifying them to eleven. by doing that it freezes you, figuratively, because people's desires motives and traits can change. But once they've been driven to their absolute? Not anymore. Now they're all you are.
the Laserblaster is one of the Robot Prince's detachable limbs because HE'S the third relic. instead of being neutral he actively chose to be Good.
there's a lot of other things but I fear that's too long for an information post so I'll pass to the tags:
#dreadverse - a tag for, well, dreadverse content. May be rambling, may be fanart, perhaps it mayyyy occasionally be writing but I'm unsure that I can tag it with GH if i post it.
#gloryhammer bc - a tag for gloryhammer band-canon
#drv (name) - a tag for specifically dreadverse versions of the characters
#dread sketches - my art!
#dread scribes - my writing! also may include song translations because I do those from time to time
#dread ramblings - I ramble.
oh and of course. the standard rules apply. I'm writing about The Characters, not The People. to make that more apparent, dreadverse designs have been made as distinct from the band members as I could possibly make them while still keeping them recognisable.
