Professor Quil
Occupation: Wandering professor while outside the castle. Inside, he is the Royal Family’s informant and advisor, but as it’s usually peaceful in the kingdom, he is free to go out and teach as he pleases.
Looks: He is usually seen with a white dress shirt with a cream tie, as well as a pastel blue vest on. Over it is a flowing blue-white elegant trench coat which he leaves unbuttoned most of the time. On the back it hears the Royal Crest in a soft yellow. He has blue dress pants and white shoes.
His eyelights are in the shape of stars which are often a soft green, and he wears a white cap with a gold trim, as well as half lens silver glasses. He wears yellow gloves as well. Under his coat, he hides a long tail which ends in what seems to be a swirl.
Past: Before the monsters went with the Being of Worlds, he was much the same. A scholar above all else. He learned everything he could get his hands on, weeding out useless knowledge along the way. He had taught Prince Ariel as the royal advisor while also making sure his brother didn’t let his anger get the best of him and make too many enemies. Now, he wishes to teach his knowledge to anyone who wishes to learn.
Temperance: He knows there is no avoiding getting a first impression of people, but he likes to reserve judgement until he got to know them for a good while. While teaching, he is patient and calm, yet knows how to be strict when needed to be. He is willing to teach as long as the person is willing to learn. His favorite saying when things start looking bleak: As long as you care enough to be frustrated, it’s never over.
Outside of being a teacher, he is naturally curious and rather carefree. His brother says he and his teacher side are two people stuck in the same body which he scoffs at. He’s playful and energetic. Quick witted as well.
One thing that is a constant is that he’s always observing. He makes quick work of any would be attackers, even if it seems he was just resting under a tree just a moment ago.
Powers: While he is a teacher first and foremost, he is a skilled specialist. His gift from the Being was the power to enter others’ subconscious and dreams which he uses to give lessons on how to overcome their thoughts and emotions to think clearly. Unlike other “Dreams” he does not change the person’s dreams for them, but he rather reminds them that this is their own mind. Helping them deal with trauma and doubts on their own. He only changes the dream when he absolutely has to.
While he may lack physical strength, he more than makes up for it in his magic. So far he has mastered bone magic which is typical for a skeleton. He also has access to fire, ice, and electricity magics if he ever needs them, which is very rare.
Relationships:
Wraith is his twin brother. Neither of them know which is older as they were found at the King’s castle entrance one cold night. He loves his brother since they are family but they do butt heads a lot of the time. Quil often refers to Wraith as “the walking talking brick wall of anger” as a fun jab at his brother. Even so, Quil respects him for being the Commander of the Royal Guard and as an equal in their own way.
When it’s just the two of them outside of work, they enjoy casual competition, each of them giving each other challenges and talking of their days. They like to hang out at Chamo’s pastry and bar. He enjoys watching Wraith brag about his defending the kingdom, and failing to catch anyone’s eye as he drinks himself stupid while Quil sits back sipping on some sweet coffee and having his usual lemon torte.
Chamo is the main worker and manager of Chamo’s Pastry Bar. It’s not to be confused with just pastries, it has an actual bar with alcohol instead of a normal coffee shop, but he does serve coffee and teas as well. He is a purple fire elemental that’s quiet most of the time. When talking about his favorite things with Quil however, he goes in depth and loves mysteries and theories. If you want information on a rumor, Chamo probably has the details you need, but at a cost of a game.
Quil finds his idea of payment for information strange yet enjoyable. Sometimes when he comes in, Chamo has a monster trying to stack bottles into a pyramid or doing a headstand for who knows how long. It never goes too far though, which Quil appreciates. It’s mostly in good fun. Together they exchange information and ideas, sometimes even going in depth at talking about existing.
Prism was one such monster that was doing one of Chamo’s challenges when Quil came in one day. Prism and his otter pal, Pastel, had to balance plates on their heads for an hour, but Quil saw they were not of this world and chastised Chamo for treated guests like so. Prism said he was looking for information about where his own world may be so that he could get back to his family, but he unfortunately had no way of finding it.
While Prism was disappointed, he was still happy to make a new friend, and visits often though recently has had to call ahead of time since he walked in on Quil in the middle of a shower. They had become very fast friends and trade stories of their lives and discoveries.
