Thanksgiving eve and I just now decided to finally listen to this mixtape, and that wasn't out of some weird sense of principality in support of Drake(Ha ha, God no...), I've been having hard drive issues which is the biggest bitch of all. All hardware issues aside I'm back at it with what I think is a pretty dope comeback for both myself and young Meek Mill.

Now let's not pretend as if Meek is incapable of putting words together, the issue with him besides the massive L he received was the fact that his brazen "Rolly" and "Audemars" bars were starting to get old and he was beginning to sound like a one trick pony. I mean for God's sake even Nikki finally decided to expand her flow after 2 albums, which now that I think about it would put Meek right on schedule in comparison, I wonder how his "Pinkprint" will sound.

DreamChasers 4(these are two words and sorry but i refuse to make "chasers" lowercase, it's stupid, it's bad enough I smudged them together but niggas gotta draw lines) has certainly expanded from his previous Dreamchasers 3. The production is still on the darker side but the HUGE difference is that Meek Mill of all people...doesn't appear to be screaming at you... Congratulations Meek, honestly, for the first time since you've come out I've actually been able to listen to the words that you were saying and not just vigorously nod my head to your tone and inflections. For the first time since "the incident" Meek has sounded like he's matured as an artist. His choice of beats has become  more sophisticated and he's learned to temper his approach to tracks. Now all that being said there is still a fair amount of Meek yelling at you here but there's a noticeable difference from what he used to be.

Hell Meek becomes an actual story teller with nuance and perspective on some of these tracks. There's a vibe to this mixtape that does seem to follow the dark tone of Atlanta rap i.e. 21 Savage, Young Thug and the like, trap is alive and well here but it's not obvious but the signature trap hi-hats are present. The features on this mixtape compliment Meek extremely well, that is to say, Meek doesn't sound like a completely separate entity on the song. The diversity to flow well with a YFN Lucci, an impressively versatile NIkki Minaj, to long time collaborator French Montana, Torey Lanez and upstart Lil Uzi Vert left a very good taste in my mouth. 

There's a great tone to this mixtape, there's a great deal of maturity to this mixtape, and most importantly it's just good fucking music. It feels like Rick Ross' patience to music has finally rubbed off on Meek Mill in the absolutely best way. Easily one of the best mixtapes of the year Meek Mill is BACK with a vengeance and he didn't even have to pay any attention to Drake. Meek is turning into the artist a lot of "the hood" was hoping he'd become and I'm personally extremely happy for this new found musical space he's entered. Now there's a DreamChasers 4.5 that will be coming out soon which of course are simply a collection of songs that didn't quite fit this mixtape but then again its been a few weeks since "4" came out so maybe that means Meek is putting thought into 4.5 as well. Let's hope for the best, welcome back Meek Mill. 

MEEK MILLY!!! Sorry I just had to do that once... Oh yeah and as much as a smash as "Litty" is "Tony Story 3" is easily the best song on this mixtape. MEEK MILLY... again sorry...
