hands trembled as she rummaged through her sack, pulling out cloth so that she could bind riku's injuries. she wasn't even sure it was going to work -- how long was he going to stay in this form? if she wrapped them tightly, would it hurt him once he became a wolf again?

all this because she hadn't been paying attention. because she had been too fascinated by the field of flowers that she hadn't noticed they were being watched--- and riku had paid the price for it. they had managed to lose their attackers and find safety in a small cave, but how long would that last?

how long until they were found?

kairi jerked when she felt a hand against her cheek, a thumb gently swiping just under her eye. she blinked and looked at riku, who was trying his best to hide just how much pain he was in, but he looked --- worried. she raised a hand to her other cheek, pulling it back to see her fingers wet ( and caked in dirt and riku's blood ).

she was crying. typical --- riku was hiding how much he was in pain so that she wouldn't be worried and he was worried about her well-being? she leaned into his hand, moving both her hands to rest over his before she turned her head to press a kiss to his palm.

        "it's okay," she murmured into his palm, "it's my turn to keep you safe. just rest, alright? i'll be back." she pressed another kiss to his palm before she pulled away, scooping up her scattered belongings and shoving them back into her sack. she wiped at her cheeks, brows knitting together in determination. "i'm going to lead them away and then when i come back, we can --- we can stay here the night so you can get better."

Kairi may only be 16 but I think she was the same age as sora, and if she was then she’d be 17

Kairi’s the same age as Sora so yeah you’re right on that! Because in kh1 into CoM Sora is 14 so that makes Riku 15, and then in kh2 which is a year long time skip Kairi and Sora age like fine wine into 15, Riku becomes 16.

So that I got BUT after kh2 they don’t give us time intervals anymore which is why I’m not so sure anymore I guess? Because kh2; re; ddd takes only a short times after so like months worth I guess? And then right into kh3 so I thought they were barely entering their adolescence I guess? Because kh/3 isn’t even a year time skip......... ..which is weird cause I always thought that it should be.
