Sunset Announces Launch Of Electronic Music Label, Rewired Records
Sunsetis pleased to announce the launch of it's electronic and DJ music label, Rewired Records.
The electronica styled label was formed this month to cater to the extensive repertoire initially signed through the Sunset's Jazz Recording Label. The Sunset Recording Company has moved over the Romania DJ/producer duo Dreamdoktor comprised of Dan Handrabur and Cristina Handrabur, the House DJ act DJ Zevzek and the TripHop music group, Weed.
Rewired Records will also work all of the Remix albums, DJ albums and Electronica albums that had been released at the labels over the last few years (Lounge Party, Closet Classics, Do Not Adjust Your Set, Dreamgirls Remixed CD, Remix Party CD) and the label is set up to release the DMA Dance, Best of Freestyle File CD and the DJ X's Club Experience CDs this summer. Rewired Records is also releasing the Non Stop Dance Party Christmas CD in the fall to be set up just in time for the Holiday Season this year.
The label is officially launched this week with Weed's “Truth Love Spirit” and DJ Zevzek's “Hyperdiamonds” at Number 2 and at Number 3 right now and with Dreamdoktor's next single, "Seven Billion Years To Go” which is debuting at Number 17 on the Dance and Club charts at Homegrown Hits. "We're very psyched to get this label off the ground this week, and we're overly psyched to have a label with these popular and growing styles to be able to work this music to another level. This way too, we have the great opportunity to service these artists and their great music direct to the dance style labels like Beatport, Dance Music Hub, Juno, DJ Tunes and all the labels that cater only to electronica and DJ music. This is the best way for us to get us into the middle of the electronic music landscape today" says Don Lichterman, the founder and head of the Sunset Companies. The independently owned Sunset Corporation has made its mark in the music business releasing many special markets titles, urban music, classical music, old school jazz recordings, world music, alternative and rock music for half of a decade now, and it has become one of the top Indy label groups in the industry today. It's current roster boasts to have released the likes of the Federal Moguls (DJ Q-Balls (Bloodhound Gang) Side Project), Han Drabur (Number One Blues / Rock Song today), Joe Atman, Down From Zero (song heard on MTV's Ridiculousness), Richtaste (Produced by Pat Aeby (Krokus), Kapital A., Gina Thompson, The Boy From Space (Produced by Fran Ashcroft (Dandy Warhols, Grolliaz), House On The Hill (HOTH), 3 All Mighty, Key Of X, M.R.S.B.L.K., Woodcock Group, I Kong, Respect, No-Limitt, Steve Tilelli, Susan Schwartz and many special artists titles with the likes of Santana, Bob Marley, INXS, Kevin Hart, Pepper, Alice Cooper, The Rat Pack (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.) and many more popular artists and therefore, the transition to electronic and DJ styled music was an eventual one. "This is a natural progression quite frankly because the popularity of this type of music has grown to be huge over the last few years and our signings at the labels reflect it," says the Sunset Founder. "These DJ's and artists in these formats have given us some of the most relevant and current music we have at the labels today – this (starting Rewired Records) was long over due to do this year and besides, lumping these new artists and DJ's into the Jazz Record label was not how envisioned that label. Sunset Jazz Recordings to me is to be much more old school sounding and these artists that were being worked at SC&J (Sunset Classics & Jazz) are way too new and futuristic for it." This is the culmination of a lot of work done this year to sign, set up, release and start charting this new dance music and the label has already seen a great response to it. There has also been a lot of placement through the Music Supervision Division in April alone with songs chosen to be on compilation CDs like the Remix Party CD, the Anthology of Electronic (Vol. 2) CD, Milano Fashion Nights CD, The Top 50 House Songs CD, New York House Jackin CD, People In Motion House Music Compilation CD, My House in Berlin CD, Sweet Temptation CD, Asian Dinner CD, Future Jazz Cafe CD, the Cinematic Lounge CDs (Volume 1 and Volume 2), the Body Art (Exotic Lounge and Chill-House) CD, the Lemongrass Garden CD, the Cafe Bombay CD, and the Chilling Cuts CD. A song has also been placed on the Free Enterprise Soundtrack CD and in that film itself that star's William Shatner.
