Lecturing women on their fantasies, telling them NOT to like "Fifty Shades" because it includes abuse is just as bad, in my opinion, as telling women that "nice girls" don't imagine being kissed, loved, touched, ravaged, swept off their feet. "Nice girls" can imagine anything they want. And in literature, people can write whatever they want. Men have always enjoyed fantasies of being tied up and whipped by dominatrices. They have always had their erotica.
(2/3): They have always found their way to expensive brothels where professional dominatrices act out such rituals for their pleasure. Are women not equal to men? Don’t women have the same rights as men? I’m shocked by all the preaching about “Fifty Shades.” I stand up for women, for their freedom, for their rights, for their imaginations, their hearts.
(3/3): That’s a quote by Anne Rice and I just wanted to send it to you, because I was shocked that you compared “Fifty Shaded Of Grey” to rape culture. I do accept that you don’t want to watch the film(I don’t want to, either), but I wanted to voice my opinion and just make you think a bit about what you posted… This is not meant in an offensive way!
Thank you for your asks - I do appreciate someone who takes the time to send a serious response to things!
Your examples from men and sex are EXACTLY the reason I dislike 50 shades. Men like to be dominated in the bedroom - THEY pay the women and in the end control what they do. I have no problem with a consensual BSDM relationship - it’s totally not my thing but people should always do what they want to do.
My problem with 50 shades is the abuse outside the bedroom. Grey doesn’t just dominate Anastasia in the bedroom, he stalks, harasses and abuses her every single day. She doesn’t give consent for him to stalk her at work, she doesn’t give consent for him to threaten to abuse her. That’s all on him.
A book that promotes BSDM is fine with me - women should be free to explore their sexual fantasies - but don’t give young girls the idea that just because a man dominates you in the bedroom, he can dominate every aspect of your life. It is unhealthy, especially for young girls and boys who will see this relationship as “normal”. It’s not. Anastasia is an abused girl who is too young to see what is happening and this should NEVER EVER be promoted.
