Three obituaries for notable characters from The Silmarillion, for @silmarillionepistolary week day 6: Obituaries!

Chapter 1: An accomplished polymath, creator, and warlord, Fëanáro Curufinwë, High King of the Noldor, passed on to Mandos in Y.T. 1497. A fighter to the end, Fëanáro faced his foes undaunted despite the grim odds, and was surrounded by family as he self-cremated... Chapter 2: A benevolent king and steadfast companion, Findaráto “Felagund” Ingoldo died doing what he loved, helping a friend in need. “He always kept his word,” said his companion Beren Erchamion, who was with him when he passed. “He was the kind of person who always dropped what he was doing just to help out...” Chapter 3: With the death of Ereinion Gil-galad, the title of “High King of the Noldor” has passed with him, as he had no heir and none have stepped forward to claim it. The title died in Mordor alongside its longest holder, and the crown was buried with him.

Galadriel, Maglor, and Finrod 16. “Just Stay” Spring

I’d love some fluffy cousin relationship feels, but I don’t mind if there’s some angst mixed in.

Sorry if this is a bit vague, if you need more let me know? Or if it’s not your thing that’s totally fine too!

“Just stay,” Artanis sighed, throwing up her hands in defeat. “Clearly nothing I do will get you to leave my room, so you might as well stop pretending you’re packing up to go.”

Findaráto grinned at her. “Why, sister, how gracious you are!”

Makalaurë smirked and dropped his bag on her bed most dramatically. “However shall we thank you, O fairest maiden of the Noldor?”

Artanis scowled, snapping, “By shoving over, that’s how! This is my bed!”

“But Artë, it’s a sleepover,” Findaráto wheedled. “That means our illustrious cousin will be sleeping over you!”

“What in Arda do you m— Umfff!”

She never managed to finish her sentence, for as soon as she opened her mouth, both Makalaurë and Findaráto pounced, jumping on top of her in a fit of giggles one might expect from little children, not the grown néri they were. (Well, barely grown.)

Yet once she got her breath back, Artanis couldn’t help but laugh along. Even if Makalaurë was not her favorite cousin, she still loved him, and adored her biggest brother, and it was nice to act like carefree children again, if only just for one night.

I hope you don’t mind me asking, I was curious if you knew if Alexander Rychkov has done any other musicals or anything really? I’ve become very fond of him as Finrod and adore his voice so I was hoping to find more things he’s been in or done!

I don't mind at all (naturally), I'm sorry it took me a while to answer.

He doesn't seem to be working in musical theatre primarily. His showreel (see below) includes film clips, and his agent's page lists movies, nothing else.

While scrolling through his Instagram, I found a couple of posts that suggest that he's working as a wedding singer/entertainer (x), and he's part of a small theatre company in Moscow (x).

This wasn't what you're hoping for, I guess - but I simply couldn't to find anything else. Maybe the Russian speakers are able to find more? I do hope that we'll see him in other musicals in the future.

I feel your pain on this so much. So tired of the ‘social justice’ crap. I’m tired of being told exactly what is wrong with everything I love. With a checklist of exactly what it is missing or how it is problematic or offensive. I JUST WANT TO ENJOY MY THINGS.

Oh, god, yes, that checklist thing. And not only that, there’s now a creepy, creepy oppression tier on how you can or cannot like a thing! You like a white dude character? You are scum and must Repent, unless you headcanon him as having an oppressed identity! You like a heterosexual pairing? You are the trash of the earth and must be dogpiled and told that your ship is “toxic”. Unless they’re an interracial pairing, then you are Forgiven but you must only headcanon them in the “purest” way possible! You like a same-sex pairing? or a queer or mentally ill character? We must examine your very identity itself to see if you have the right to like such a “pure” fictional creation! You ship teenage characters with a three-year age gap? Let’s dogpile you for being a “pedo”!

It is so incredibly fetishistic and gross and does NO favors to real-life social justice – aka what’s actually important — at all, and in fact, attitudes like this harm real life causes! I think that’s part of what makes me so angry.

And that’s not even going into how they are completely taking away the point of enjoying  a story. Just LIKE something. And let others like other things! IT’S NOT HARD. We’ve done it for years!
