"There is so much happening, it is not just the actual races, it is looking for all the stuff that is going on in the peripheral areas. To put together an essay, you need a lot of pictures, and we look to work in 12-picture essays, so it's all the little detail pictures that form around the event, not just the actual race. So it's important to keep working through the crowd, looking for all the tiny observations that make up the bigger picture."
