“So you are telling me that the wealthiest, most handsome and well know man in Boston just jumped off the top floor of his penthouse for no reason?” I asked my mom. She called me 20 minutes prior to tell me that her boss, Chad Holcomb, killed himself the night before. He had made a pretty big name for himself about 10 years ago. He opened up a restaurant and before we knew it they were all over the United States. It didn’t make sense that he would kill himself with all the good he had going on. I guess no one is really ever that truly happy. I had dated him in high school, he was my age and incredibly handsome. He always was. We had kept in touch over the years. We were pretty good friends. We meet once a week for lunch or coffee just to catch up and relive our high school days. “I’m sorry Y/N. I know y’all were still very close. You had no idea he was depressed?” She asked. “No, when we meet 2 days ago he didn’t seem depressed. He was nervous. Anxious even. He kept looking over his shoulder and he was really jumpy. He said he could hear dogs barking and growling throughout the night. He apologized for his behavior and said he was just tired and it was making him even more paranoid.” I explained. “That’s weird, how could he hear dogs when no one he lived around had any?” She asked. “I don’t know mom. I’m just telling you what he told me.” I sighed. “Listen, I have to go. I have a long day ahead of me at work. Can I call you tomorrow?” I asked her. “Yes baby, that’s fine. Have a good day at work. Be safe.” She said. “I will mom. I love you.” “I love you.” I hung up the phone and started replaying the last time I saw Chad over and over in my head. I couldn’t believe I didn’t realize he wasn’t well. He always believed me when I told him about my “dream mate.” He never made me feel insane about it like my other friends. He was a great guy and I was going to miss him very much. I sat down on the edge of my bed and took a few deep breaths. The reality of him being gone hit me a little harder than I expected. I took one more breath and got up and started getting ready for work. I was a waitress and some little diner about 2 and a half blocks from my apartment. It wasn’t the best job, but it paid the bills. I walked out my front door and locked it. I began walking to work. I put my head phones in and hit shuffle on my music. As I was walking the familiar feeling of my heart screaming out for my “dream mate” started. My heart began to flutter and I had butterfly’s in my stomach. I stopped and doubled over with the feeling of it. It wasn’t a bad feeling. It was just unexpected. This normally doesn’t happen unless I’m asleep. I stood up and shook my head. I looked around to see if anyone saw me. It was all clear. As I turned back around and began my walk again I saw the back end of a black car going down the road I had to follow to go to work. Dean’s POV “Should we stop?” Sam asked. Dean looked over at the girl bent over on the side walk. His heart was practically trying to escape from his chest at the sight of her. He couldn’t see her face but what he did see sent him for a spin. “Yeah, maybe we should.” I said, getting ready to pull over. As I was about to pull the car up she stood up and started looking around. “I think she is fine now. Let’s just do what we are here to do.” Sam said. I shot him a sideways look and rolled my eyes. I wanted to argue because I wanted to see her. I felt like I had to know her. However, I let it go and kept driving. If I argued I would have to explain why I was arguing and I didn’t want to hear Sam give me his opinion. I looked in my Rearview mirror as I drove away and watched her walk for a second. I had to know her. We decided to stop for a bite to eat before we headed to the police station and the penthouse. It was going to be a long day by the looks of it and I would need to refuel before we started. Y/N’s POV I opened the door to the diner and the bell rang above my head. I walked in and walked behind the counter. I put my bag up and put my apron on. I heard the bell go off and rolled my eyes. I knew they were gonna make me take that table because I just got there. I walked out and my manger said, “Table 36 just got sat. Take them will ya?” He wasn’t really asking. I pulled my book out of my apron and walked over to the table. “Hi, I’m....” I said before looking on of them in the eye. My heart started pounding and fluttering. His eyes were emerald green and just so captivating. I couldn’t stop looking at him. He was looking at me as well. He wouldn’t look away. He looked like he was made by the gods himself. He was wearing a deep dark brown leather jacket that was completely worn in. He had a blue and black plaid button up shirt over a plain black t-shirt. His jeans were denim blue and had holes around the knees. He was absolutely perfect. “Mhmm.” The gentleman sitting across from him cleared his throat and broke my trace. I looked over at him, “I’m sorry.” I apologized. I refused to look in the other ones direction again. “What can I get you?” I asked “I’ll have a water and a salad, he will have a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Extra bacon and a soda.” He said, looking at me with a tight brow. I nodded my head and walked away. “What the fuck was that?” I asked myself confused. I went to my boss and lied and said I didn’t feel well. I had to get out of there. I didn’t know what was going on, but I had to get myself out of that situation. He wasn’t happy but he let me go and had someone else finish up the table.
