Today it’s the 18th birthday of my very first horse Sandiegobese. The path I have walked with him is one of a kind.
We bought him when he was almost 6 and he didn’t know anything. He was well broken in but that was it. We slowly started building him up and after a few months I started competing him at level 0. This didn’t really go as planned because he spooked and reared etc. But we just kept on going.
Three years later I competed successfully at national junior level.
In 2009 I started training with Jeroen Devroe. From this moment on a lot has changed. We did our first Europeans in Ermelo. The following three years we were selected as well to represent Belgium at CDI’s, Europeans and even the World Cup in Frankfurt. Also we won the Belgian Championships twice. (See RESULTS page)
Anyway, Jeroen, Bese and I were the best team. We had so many ups and downs, tears, suffering, joy and happiness! I am so grateful to my dad who has given us the opportunity to find out what we’re worth !
Never give up and try to get the best out of every horse, you could be astonished how much is in them...
