“It was alright, it would’ve been better had I stayed here in Rosewood.” You sighed. Moving a few hangers on the clothes rack as you gazed through the clothes.
“I agree,” Hannah muttered. “I missed you this summer, I know everyone did.”
You scoffed, before rolling your eyes. “I doubt everyone did.”
“When are you two going to come together instead of being rivals?” Hannah questioned with a raised eyebrow. Rounding the clothing rack to lean against it.
You shrugged in response. “When she stops trying to control everyone.”
Hannah snorted. “Like that’ll ever happen.”
Smirking, you turned and faced her. “Exactly. Come, let's go to The Brew.” You spoke, holding your elbow out signaling for her to take it. “My lady.”
Placing a hand over her heart, she let out a fake gasp. “My prince.” She placed the back of her hand against her forehead as she swooned.
Giggling you rolled your eyes, as you escorted her out of the store.
“That’s for shopping with us, come again!” One of the store clerks spoke as you exited the store.
Walking down the street, arm in arm, fall was looming in the air. Leaves were falling signaling the end of summer. The air was much more light than it had been the past few months. As the season change was looming in the air, so was disaster.
“So, are you going to tell me about your mysterious Casanova?” Hannah questioned elbowing you gently.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You shrugged attempting to hide a smile that began threatening on your lips. Holding the door open, you allowed Hannah to go through first.
Hannah snorted once again. “Oh, please.” She rolled her eyes. “You think I wouldn’t notice if my best friend had a guy....or girl, I don’t judge. In her life?”
You giggled. “It’s definitely a guy. I appreciate the open-mindedness.”
“Ah-Ha!” Hannah exclaimed, pointing her finger at you in the process. Your eyebrows raising together in shock at her reaction. “I knew it!”
“I...I-”
“Who is it?” She questioned. “It’s someone from town, I know that!” She spoke, briefly becoming distracted by the barista questioning Hannah for her coffee order.
Taking a breather, you allowed your shoulders to slump slightly. As your guard was down, a stranger passed by you closely. Their hand grasping your waist as they passed while their other hand slipped a piece of paper into yours.
Gasping, you gazed in the direction of the stranger leaving. Immediately you recognized that back. Jason.
Turning your attention back to the note in your hand, you opened.
‘Can we talk?’
Sighing, you knew exactly what he wanted to talk about.
The sound of someone gasping pulled you back to reality.
“It’s Jason!” Hannah whispered excitedly in response. “I knew it!”
“Shh, Hannah!.” You hissed. “Keep your voice down!” You spoke gazing around the room hoping nobody would notice. Much to your relief nobody seemed to care.
Ushering her in the direction of the common area to sit, it was your turn to order. Once you finished your order, the sound of your phone going off captured your attention.
