finally got this RECORDED so i can rewatch it in PEACE

Roathe absolutely knows how to dance which means there will be one night where Andromeda asks very nicely if they can do something more mundane for a date and it turns into a romantic candlelit dinner, complete with Orokin silks fit for nobility that he asked he Necramites to craft for her, and Orokin ballroom lessons

The dancing is mostly just giggling as she steps on his toes repeatedly but he is very patient and she gets the hang of it fairly quickly, though he truly could not care less — he is so very in love and she is so very beautiful laughing in his arms that he would stay like this for hours if she wanted

And she has not felt beautiful in… well, ever probably. The silks are elegant and she does her hair a bit differently and adorns herself with gold. When she looks in the mirror for the first time she sees a Beautiful Woman and not a frightened tired thing and it is intoxicating. It’s almost enough for her to forget about the swirling void scars and her glowing eyes. And he is so very tall and handsome, and he is being so charming until he is half telling stories about some of the fools he remembers and she is laughing in his arms bc yes he is putting on the charm but he’s not masking or hiding. Just showing a different part of himself

working on a drifter / operator meme thingy but i am still hemming and hawing about frames and/or I still need to get a couple frames for drifter timeline

new war replay got me thinking about drifter and operator

i think operator probably leveled up deimos some time between the war within and the new war, so she has been going by Aya tentatively since, even though she remembers some of what happened on the Zariman by that point, her name is still lost

thinking about Drifter and Operator seeing each other after The New War and kind of having an awkward heart to heart. Maybe in the Sanctum after Whispers in the Walls where they first kind of figure out that they can both be there just like they can on the Zariman.

They're sitting together on a ledge, silent and still, enjoying the moment of peace, when Operator speaks up. "This might be a long shot, but... do you remember your name?" Drifter looks over at her child self, hunched in on herself overlooking the gaping maw of the Void trying to eat into the Sanctum, and she can't help but notice how small she looks. Lost. Lonely. Just a kid. "You don't remember yours?" Operator shakes her head, kicking her feet. "I don't remember much of anything, really. I... I'm getting pieces back, but my name isn't in any of them." Drifter gets that. She's lost more time to missing memories than she will ever know. Swinging her legs in a mirror of her child self, she grins and says, "Our name is Andromeda. Like the galaxy." Operator doesn't say anything for a long moment. When she does speak, her voice is hoarse, and Drifter glances over to find a tear dripping down her cheek, hands clenched into fists on her thighs, exhaling shakily and steadfastly avoiding meeting Drifter's gaze. "Thank you..."

discovered operator can't go to the dormizone which sucks because my drifter certainly does not want that shit 😔

moved all the lil trinkets i had for roathe + the hex from the orbiter living quarters to the backroom. gonna focus on decorating the orbiter for a teenage girl

i cant wait until i can bring hythlodaeus back into the mix and he gets to look roathe in the eyes and "of course i loved you. i still love you. you were the first thing that made being alive without her feel worth it. it was just far too dangerous to tell you at the time."

like roathe is going to be so dramatic because of course andromeda and hyth will cling to each other first because they thought they were dead and thought they'd never ever see each other again but i also think he will not know what to do with two people wanting him

yes he is poly and believes in it but i also feel like part of him sees it, as it seems like the orokin saw it, as like Primary lovers and Secondary lovers

in his head im sure there will be a "someone has to be the least favorite" and since the two of them grew up together and were each other's first everything of course he is the secondary and why would they even need him anyway

the fact that they both separately fell in love with him on their own does not really occur to him until they sit him down and spell it out for him.

he's been the thing that made both of them, separately, believe in being happy and falling in love again. of course they both want him. why is this even a question? neither of us could ever be truly happy if we didn't have you too

ran a solo run of the Joy Spiral to gather mats for Oraxia and Duviri is so pretty. so pretty and so eerie. it’s so easy to see how it would have been simple to fall in love with it and feel safe at first. everything is beautiful and magical and perfect

I think at first after she escaped and when she was talking to the Hex especially she was really traumatized by the endless executions and fear. I don’t think she would have been back until either Isleweaver or Roathe asked to come visit. I don’t know how “canon” I consider the spirals narratively speaking, though I suppose Thrax would still have good and bad days with or without her

Either way, I think with Roathe with her it allows her to kind of ground herself in reality — in being safe — and allows her to kind of see past the urge to flinch at every little thing. Let’s her see less of the horror and more of the view outsiders have of it

(That and the stupid shit coming out of his mouth about redecorating the throne room and having sex on the furniture and launching invasions is making her roll her eyes so hard and laugh which makes it kind of hard to focus on the urge to have a breakdown)

She does remember how happy she was once. She’s very subdued when she explains it to him and explains as well that she doesn’t really have control over anything here. Not in the way he thinks. If she did things would have been a lot different lol

As I was walking around picking flowers and doing puzzles and reading things all I could think about was Andromeda and Hythlodaeus when they were falling in love. There’s so many beautiful little sitting areas or little like day bed things — tents under waterfalls — where they could have hidden themselves away when they first admitted they had feelings for each other. So many beautiful places to make beautiful memories.

So many beautiful places that were likely eventually stained with gore and viscera.
