Drifter Chronicles - The New Century Celebration
The celebration for the new century on planet Plomia couldn’t be any happier. People are cheering to the heavens, dancing like there’s no tomorrow, and stuffing their faces full of delicious food. The lights are glaring brighter than the sun itself, and it feels like everybody on the planet is awake. Reji is having to keep watch over Zukia and Scarlett while they drink themselves silly, and Tarah and Darwin continue to converse with the locals about the history of the new century. “Hey wait a second?” Reji asks, “Has anybody seen Jafroh anywhere?” Zukia stumbles over onto Reji’s shoulder and replies, “Oh Jafroh? PSHHHHHH probably crying in a corner somewhere because he knows I can kick his ass!” Zukia starts to laugh while eating, but goes into a coughing fit instead because he choked on a piece of food. While Reji tries to help Zukia, Scarlett asks, “Hey, has anybody seen my dad? And where’s Jafroh? Weren’t they right behind us?” Reji becomes annoyed because nobody will listen to him or answer his question, and Scarlett soon forgets that she even asks a question, picks up Zukia from the ground, and drags him off into the crowd so they can party more. “Now that I think about it,” Darwin says, “It seems like they’ve been gone for quite some time.” “I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. Both Jafroh and Mr. Zakir (Scarlett’s dad) are strong enough on their own. They should be fine,” Tarah replies quietly.
On the outskirts of town, Jafroh and Zakir find themselves at Mount. Vorisha, the tallest mountain on the planet. “Hey Warune (Mr. Zakir), where are we going anyways?” Jafroh asks while they walk up hill to the base of the mountain. “Don’t worry my friend. We’re almost where we need to be,” Warune replies, “At the top of the mountain.” They find themselves at the base of the mountain, and Jafroh looks up at the gigantic mountain. “So I’m guessing we’ll have to make our own way to the top, huh?” Jafroh asks. Warune looks over with a smirk and a glare in his eye and replies, “You bet. But who do you think will get there first?” Jafroh grins right back at Warune, and they both launch themselves into the sky towards the top of the mountain. Zakir is using his soul magic to levitate his body so we can scale the side of the mountain, and Jafroh uses his classic super speed to run up the wall so he can keep up. Before they both know it, they end up at the top of the mountain where the only thing that can be seen clearly is the night sky that’s brimming with stars galore. “I have to say Jafroh you’re pretty fast, so how about we call it a tie?” Zakir chuckles as he floats back onto the ground. Hearing no response from Jafroh, he looks over at him and finds his eyes getting lost in the view that’s right before them. In front of them is the monumental Nebulous Oasis. A very vast part of space that’s filled with many nebulae, creating this giant gas cloud in space that’s filled with an arrangement of neon colors. “Is that....the...” Jafroh says as he tries to collect his thoughts. “The Nebulous Oasis? You bet it is,” Warune says as he finishes the sentence. Jafroh overwhelmingly drops to the ground as he stares into the oasis, and Warune takes a seat beside him. They both share a moment of silence as they look up at the beautiful image that is pictured before them in the sky. “You know,” Warune says, “When I was a kid, I used to always love looking at the stars in the night sky. They seem to crowd the vast areas of space with their huge numbers, and always look calm. My mother used to tell me that the stars we all see in the night sky are just old souls traveling back to their original homes so they can be reborn back into this world, and experience it all over again. Even though the stars are held together by their own gravity, their soul is what gives them a bright appearance. The brighter the star, the closer it is to coming home, and reuniting with the world they were once apart of.” Jafroh and Warune continue to sit atop of the mountain and stare into the Nebulous Oasis. After enough staring, Jafroh starts to laugh and says,” You know what Warune? I can believe every word that your mother said to you, and I’m sure she was a wonderful person as well.” Jafroh looks over at Warune and smiles, and notices how Warune has his eyes closed with a big grin on his face. “You’re right Jafroh, she was a wonderful person. A wonderful mother especially,” Warune replies as he reminisces about the fond memories he has about his mother. “But enough star talk for now!” Warune exclaims, “Let’s get back down to the party and see what everyone else is up to.” Jafroh get’s this mischievous look in his eye and says, “I’ll race you back down.” Warune accepts his challenge, and before he can even get back up onto his feet, Jafroh is already soaring back down into the city. Warune is surprised by the speed Jafroh is going at, but doesn’t go after him instantly. He grows a meaningful smile on his face and thinks to himself. “So he’s the drifter in this world that still has a pure heart, huh? He’ll do fine in this world. I’m sure of it.” Warune then leaps off of the mountain, and follows Jafroh back down to the celebration.
As it regards to the release of my story, “Drifter Chronicles,” the release date for the first issue may have to be pushed back a pit because I’ve been extremely busy with work lately. I’m trying my hardest to get everything ready for July 1st, but we’ll see how everything goes.
Of course, whenever I work on the story, i’m stuck secluded from society in my room with barely any distractions besides maybe the TV. What’s funny about it though is how I can feel so alone and unfulfilled in this room, but whenever I work on this story, I feel like i’m in a completely different world. I’ve gotten so sucked into my story that it excites me every time I write more, draw more, or even just sit here and think of crazy ideas that’ll help the story all together.
I seriously can’t wait to actually show everybody this fantasy world that I escape too during the dark times in my life. It all started with just a simple idea, but then it expanded into a huge galaxy that even I haven’t searched the ends of. Just be prepared.
The sound of the waves rushing against the shore had woken him up. He had no idea why he was at the beach, or what he was doing beforehand. He touched his face to make sure he could still feel something, and was shocked when the right side of his face was incredibly swollen. "What the hell happened.....?" Jafroh had thought to himself. He slowly got back into his feet, and started to walk around the shore. Nothing was coming to him as he walked around. After walking for so long, something finally caught his eye. There was something sparkling in the sand. Jafroh kneeled down to pick it up, only to find a ring that belonged to a friend of his. His eyes widened as the memories started to pour in. "So you're just going to run away from all of your closest friends that are trying to help you, and then claim it to be a heroic act?!" Scarlet yelled at Jafroh. "As I am now, I don't want to accidentally hurt anyone I'm close to. I still haven't learned how to control this "demon" side of me," Jafroh answered. There was a slight pause in the conversation. The sun had set, the sky was covered in stars and the two moons that orbited Varia, and the waves were calm. "I.....I can understand where you're coming from," Scarlet muttered under her breath, "BUT YOU CANT JUST LEAVE EVERYBODY WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH. WE'RE ALL FRIENDS BECAUSE WE CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER. YOU DIDNT SAY A WORD. YOU JUST LEFT, LEAVING US WORRIED." Jafroh continued to look down towards the ground with a troubled look in his eye. "We know it's been hard. Having to deal with the truth, and this new side of you. Why would you think it would be better for you to disappear?" Scarlet asked. The waves started to pick up, and each moment of silence was slowing thinning the line between friends and strangers. Jafroh looked up at Scarlet and saw the tears running down her face. "I didn't want to be a burden to anybody, that's all," Jafroh said. Scarlet eyes widened, and she began to look down. After another brief moment of silence, Scarlet walked towards Jafroh and slapped him across the face as hard as she could. The force of the slap was so hard that it knocked Jafroh unconscious. He laid there in the sand while Scarlet was still crying. "You're a lot dumber than I thought," Scarlet said as she walked off. ".....Shit. I really messed up this time huh?" Jafroh thought to himself as he held the ring. He put the ring in his pocket, got up, and started making his way back home. "Gahhhhh, I'm such an idiot," he said as he scratched the back of his head.
these past late nights have been complete shit. i can’t tell you how many nights ill spend staring at my ceiling just dreaming of how things could be. so it got me thinking. what the hell is the point of just sitting in my room all day just dreaming if i’m not actually doing anything? I hate to admit it, but my motivation surely has been down the drain recently, especially since everything I planned has been going off course and spinning out of control.
BUT OH BOY OH BOY HAVE A HIT THE GOLD ON ONE OF THESE OTHER NIGHTS I’VE SPENT AWAKE.
Just expect something big this year boys and girls, because ya boy Jacon is about to cook up something big and delicious.
"Sometimes you say that you wish you didn't care as much as you do now. Personally, I just think that you're weak and scared. You say that you'd rather "drift" away from your home and go out into the world to find yourself. Looks to me like you're just running away because you were never able to grow some balls and tell people how you actually feel. I swear, you've been wearing that same cheeky mask for years, and it's clearly starting smell. Where's your ambition? Where's your passion? Where's that famous smirk? Where did you go? Honestly, if you ask me, I think you're looking at all of this completely wrong. When you deal with people from your past, that's not you going backwards. Just don't succumb to old feelings and try to live in the past like you've tried before. But before you go off into the world and try to discover whatever the fuck you're looking for, you might want to go back to where it all started. I'm pretty sure the "you" that your looking for never made it out completely. Usually i'm not one to say this, especially because i'm just a demon who doesn't give a fuck regardless, but make peace with it all."
"He's a demon. Tall, equipped with brute force, a devilish grin hiding the sharp teeth that devour his prey, long pointy ears, the nose of a skeleton, a staggering tail, coated with a dark black tint, and he's one sarcastic son of a bitch. Usually people associate demons as spawns of satan or beings that only bring destruction, chaos, and suffering. Consuming the good and replacing it with pain. Who would even think of allowing such a being to roam freely, carelessly, and with such ease. But unlike every other demon, this one has a heart of its own now. If anything, you could say that it grew throughout his life. The sorrow, the joy, the pain, the torture, everything formed a somewhat counterfeit heart. But just like every other living thing, he has the need to thrive. Personally, I don't blame him. He has the power to do so......What's his name? Well I'm not exactly sure what he used to be called back in his day, but I just call him Jerve."
-Jafroh
"It's kind of funny," Jafroh said as he was looking out towards the sky. The clouds were drifting with the wind, the birds were singing their daily tune, some of the other souls were talking amongst themselves, and everything seemed perfectly fine. "I've never truly felt like I had a home until now, you know? Everybody here is so happy, everything is going well, and I actually feel like i'm starting to make some progress in my life." "Well, sometimes you have to go out into the world and figure out where your true home is," Coach Darwin replied. "If you need me, i'll be checking on Cono and making sure that he's ACTUALLY working on the plane instead of slacking off." Darwin then began to head back towards the house. Jafroh decided to get up shortly after Darwin began to walk away. "My true home, huh?" Jafroh said as he smiled and started to make his way back to the house as well.
