Contact Tracing for Coronavirus
From now on in England, if someone’s test shows that they have coronavirus, they will be asked for their recent contacts. These people will be telephoned, asked for certain details including date of birth and then asked to self isolate for up to 14 days.
I’m not going to disagree with the principle, but how can anyone receiving such a call be sure that it isn’t coming from a scammer? Ones date of birth is a key part of most identity checks and should not be given out freely. Please ask any such caller to give their full name and provide a freephone number (which should be checked independently) and then call them.
Driving Licences in the UK
Having just received a new licence, my initial comment is that the list of vehicles covered by the licence is hard to follow and in extremely small print. However, I persevered, referred to the DVLA website to see what each code meant and confirmed that I was licensed to drive all the right vehicles. The problem was that it also allowed two of the wrong ones.
- It includes powerful motorbikes, even though I have never ridden one.
- It rightly excludes minibuses, but includes minibuses fitted with a trailer.
Don’t worry if you live nearby. I have no plans to ride any motorbike or drive a minibus with a trailer, but do check the reverse of your own driving licence.
