Last week, I was fortunate enough to connect with the company Drops of Joy.  This jewelry manufacturer produces beautiful necklaces, bracelets, brooches, and even earrings which diffuse essential oils throughout the air.

When it comes to essential oils, I have limited experience.  At first, I thought all you had to do was dab on a few drops of the oil under your wrists, and that was that.  Since that time, I have experimented with a few different scents (lavender, orange, lemon), and have discovered that there are several other ways to harness the power of essential oils.

You can, as I previously said, apply oils directly to your body.  I typically put it on my wrists, but sometimes place a few drops below my ears or on my sternum.  You can combine them with certain natural skin care products.  You can also disperse them throughout the air with a diffuser.  Last month, I got my hands on an Art Naturals Essential Oil Diffuser, and I have been loving it ever since. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that you could wear your essential oils on a pendant or charm bracelet.  Enter Drops of Joy Jewelry.  They provided me with a beautiful 20 inch pendant, and I’m in love with it.

I was immediately surprised with how beautiful the Starburst pendant was.  It instantly reminded me of a lotus, and I was pleased to find more variations available on the website (I personally adore Be Still and Silver Leaf).  The necklace is packaged elegantly, and comes with a description of the company and their aim:

Before I received the necklace, I was not aware of their ties to St. Jude’s.  Knowing this now, I’m an even bigger fan of the company.

Using my necklace was quite simple.  You merely have to open the locket, dab a few drops of essential oil on a provided leather disc, and place the disc inside the locket.  Once your locket is shut, you can put it on and enjoy the scent for 2-3 days.

Once your oils fade, you can reapply the same scent to the leather disc, or apply a different oil to another disc (my necklace came with 3).  The first day wearing my locket, I received many positive comments from friends who had no idea what the necklace’s actual purpose was.  They were shocked to learn it contained essential oils.
