When the Tale Ends - More Sketches and Yapping
I think some of you asked for more. So I hope this is scratching the itch.:)
POV: When you can't remember the face of the princess you kidnapped anymore or why you had been so obsessed with her, but keep thinking of this measly peasant, who is constantly covered in dirt and showing you funny formed vegetables from his fields.
Sun hadn't the best intentions at the start, when you took him home with you. He was good at hiding it as long as he needed to, to make sure he benefited from your kindness and from how secluded your home was. No one would look for him here. So he could recover his magic and body without a hurry, while also plotting and scheming. Which included entertaining a few more unfavorable scenarios what to do with you or that 'mutt' of yours, simply because he disliked you for being so nice and gullible at first.

"Love potion? What love potion? Ooooh. T-that one? Yeah. That was... uhm... just a happy, little accident! Just me looking at the wrong page, when I actually meant to make a healing potion!" - Sun, when there isn't even a healing potion mentioned in his book.
Sun is kind of all over the place during the time he was under his own love potion. Sometimes part of his true self slips out between his attempts to flirt with you. Other times he is just like a love-sick puppy. He's not fully stupid, so when he notices he slipped up or you are questioning his wording, he does try to cover it up.
When you aren't close by, he can get his mind a bit more straight, trying desperately to find a fast fix or cure. But the moment he sees or hears you, all his efforts to resist are thrown out of the window.
Moon was not happy at all, during the time that Sun was under the effect of that love potion. Of course he was glad that it meant you weren't in any danger (since he mistrusted Sun from the very start), but this was somehow almost worse to him! Moon had been planning for a while now to confess his own romantic feelings to you and now with Sun around, he never finds a good moment to do so! He did asked you once or twice to just throw Sun out of your home. But of course you are too nice to do that, so he sulked a bit in your arms, while silently deciding to keep you safe from that deceiving snake.
Well Sun didn't get his kiss either way. Which made him cry for the first time in decades. He still accepted your reasoning since you didn't wanted to kiss someone who was under a love potion and how that would be like taking adventage of him. (For Sun's own sake during this time, you didn't mentioned that you weren't sure if you had any romantic feelings for him.) The part of him that was still thinking more clearly, was honestly relieved about this.
Going back and forth between resisting and love-sickness made Sun frustrated and angry at first. Like what the fuck? He doesn't want to be all chummy and flirty with that dirt-loving peasant! It was humilating, embarrassing and something he would never ever in his right mind even consider. (Or so he thought back then.) Still it became so tiresome at one point, that he simply gave up to find a cure the fast way and decided to just sit it out for his own peace of mind.

Sun has learnt some of the most powerful spells he could find during his life. But for any spells that aren't considered dark magic or highly destructive, he never showed any interest to learn them. So if you should get injured, he wouldn't even be able to heal up a tiny scratch on your finger. Living with you, is showing him for the first time, how little use his spells have in the everyday life. He also has a book about potion brewing on him and it's a nice alternative for him to use that as well, as it doesn't require much magical energy from him. Even more so since he is still trying to recover that after his defeat.
Sun does consider the hero who defeated him a cheating bastard. And he believes that guy would never had won against him, if it hadn't been for the help and blessings of some cursed fairy godmother and this stupid magic sword that was able to drain him off his magic.
There is a time, when Sun comes completely clean to you. You take it fairly well. Even if you need a bit of time alone to think about everything. In the end, you come back together, sitting next to each other, while Moon flops himself down and rests his head into your lap, while you ask Sun, what his plans are from here on out. Does he want to go back to his old life? Be a dark lord once again and try to get the princess back? You are not trying to hold him back, if that is what he wants. You are just curious, what he wants from life.
He's pretty open about it with you. That for a good while, he had wanted to return to his old castle and to rebuilt his former power and rulership. To get revenge on the hero and reclaim the princess no matter what it took. He knows he had been ruthless. He isn't a great person. All he knew was how to gain power and how to surpress others. The life on the farm with you and Moon had been foreign to him. It still is. Even if he doesn't find it so bad any longer. But he... doesn't quite know anymore what he wants. His need to get the princess back has vanished. His old life doesn't feel as exciting anymore. Sun is uncertain what he is desiring or what to seek from the future. For the second time since meeting each other, you offer him to stay. He can stay and take his time to figure things out. Like what kind of person he wants to be in the future or what he might want to do with himself. After a moment of silence, Sun quietly accepts.
- After that Moon does become much more relaxed and accepting of Sun as well. He knows Sun isn't a threat to you anymore. And it might help that they both bond over their fondness towards you. While Moon doesn't say it out loud for a long time, he has Sun already included into your little pack and tries to make some clumsy efforts to show Sun some affection as well. It does take Sun a good while to understand, that Moon isn't trying to play some nasty pranks on him, when he finds some dead rabbit in the morning next to the bed or is shoving a stick or big pine cone into his hands as a present. It does click eventually. Probably, when seeing Moon do the same for you and how happy he gets, when you praise and thank him for bringing him such a good tossing stick or interesting bone he had digged up in the forest. What might had looked to Sun like junk, for Moon is an actual, well-meant present. From that point on, Sun opens up a lot more to Moon as well, becoming very fond of him as well.
Probably some scenario before Sun fully came clean to you:
"Did you never thought about going away? Leaving the farm behind and going on an adventure for some treasure? To safe some prince or princess? To... find your happy ending?" He wonders how someone can live such a dull looking life and be content with it.
"Nah. I'm happy here at the farm," you told him. "I don't need no fancy adventure nor treasures. I've got everything I need right here." With a proud smile you look over your fields and the sprouts. Your eyes wander around more till they land on Moon and your smile just becomes even more cheerful. "Got even a bit more than I ever thought I would have," you add with a grin and see Moon's tail wagging softly, very aware of what you mean, while Sun looks just as confused as before. Like it's heard for him to imagine how this here could be something to achieve or dream about. But for you it's all you need.
He grew fond of your smile:
I personally headcanon Y/N as super strong from all the farm work. Like you can beat up a bunch of bandits with just some farm tools. Moon will cheer you happily on in a fight and spring into action if you actually need some help or ask him to join, he will have your back!
Sun is... just stunned. Like what the hell? How is your strength rivalling the one of a knight or hero? Why are you living just as a farmer with such a talent? It will give him quite the headache.
Maybe around that time he reconsidered his plans to throw you into his dungeon, when he would be back to his full strength and rather see if there were any spells to turn you into his personal dark knight.
