I got the naming conventions from a post by @clavicuss-vile and I would definitely recommend checking out their blog if you don't already follow them!
Faewn Storm-Veil of clan Wind-Driven, the Last Dragonborn.
Drotti Stormfang of clan Wind-Driven, adopted mother to the Dragonborn.
Backstory~
Drotti was a nord hunter that grew up on Solstheim, worshipped Kyne, and lived alone for most of her life. When Drotti was about 23, she assisted Cresius with the mine in Raven Rock, having originally been there to trade furs and meat.
Drotti explored the ruin, and did kill Dukaan, the dragon priest, but also found the Black Book that was there. Opening this lead to what was Drotti's first interaction Hermaeus Mora, the Woodsland Man. She became extremely curious about the book, began to search for more, finding the one in Ahzadal's Tomb, and even delved into Miraak's Temple in an unsuccessful attempt to claim that book. These explorations lead to her abandoning Kyne and following the Woodsland Man.
At age 25, Drotti traveled to Skyrim where she began searching for knowledge at the College of Winterhold, and eventually came across Urag who informed her of Septimus Signus. She sought him, and together they worked to free the heart of Lorkan. However, upon seeing the death of Septimus and Hermaeus Mora's offer of becoming his champion, Drotti refused and quickly got rid of anything relating to the Deadric Prince, locking the Black Books and the Ogma Infinium back within the Dwarven Lockbox before fleeing. At this point, her pupil had completely split into two halves as a result of her interaction with Hermaeus Mora.
Drotti, frightened, returned to Soltheim, her faith in Kyne, and her small cabin there, but before she arrived, found an abandoned Breton child at the Ramshackle Trading Post. When Drotti was unable to locate any family, she decide to take the girl for her own, and named her Faewn.
Faewn was raised on Solstheim as well, and learned to live as a hunter and healer from her adoptive mother Drotti despite her strangeness. She held a talent for magic as well as weapons, and quickly found herself competently wielding a great sword, bow, as well as ice and shock magic. To Drotti, Faewn had an odd habit of 'mispronouncing' words, when she really was speaking Dovahzuhl.
The two lived together, with only a few strange happenings with Faewn, who was 16 at this point, until people on the island began to sleepwalk, and the stones began to emit a unnatural glow. Cultists began roaming the island, who attacked Faewn and accused her of being a 'false Dragonborn.' Drotti, remembering the stories of Miraak from studying the Black Books, took Faewn to the Skaal tribe and had Storn protect her until she could get rid of the threat.
While Faewn was kept in the Skaal village, unwillingly, Drotti again returned to Miraak's Temple. She retrieved the black book from this place, and followed the normal path through the Dragonborn questline, with minor changes as she could not shout. Faewn was reluctantly released from the village in order to learn the Bend Will shout, but was quickly returned to their care after cleansing the stones as Drotti continued trying to stop Miraak.
Drotti finally found the book in which the final word of Bend Will was located, and instead of traveling to Apocrypha, tore out the page the shout was on, and was killed by Hermaeus Mora for this in Storn's place. Faewn learned the final word, and cleansed the island of Miraak's influence, but never traveled to apocrypha to kill him, as she did not was to have the same fate as her mother.
After her mother's death, at age 17, Faewn traveled to Skyrim in a pilgrimage to the Eldergleam Sanctuary, hoping to find some sort of peace. When she was unable to find it there, she traveled to Whiterun, and arrived at the city in time to see a dragon attacking the Western Watchtower.
