Yes, Aryvandaar was responsible in a lot of stories. And yes, the Ilythiiri are responsible in others. Sometimes it depends on the manual, sometimes the edition. 

Maddening, isn’ t it? But it’s almost like real life lore. A lot of things get lost and people fill in the blanks as they please. 

The drow - or those who became the drow - are blamed for a lot of things across history. I don’t believe I’ve wrote much (anything?) about their opinion on their Origin Story, but it’s different than what the elves believe. Not a lot of detail was added to them (not enough to turn into a story) but they’re interesting. 

Either way, considering that these were all printed as such, this reflects what some elves believe, depending on their dislike of drow or their extensive research into the written history. As far as accuracy goes, I believe Aryvandaar was the one responsible.
