“ W hat is it ? ” Alec wondered, as his eyes examined the gooey, gray substance being thrust in his face, and then offered to him in a little, tiny plastic cup next to a food cart on 92nd Street. Most mundanes called the substance oatmeal. ( At least the few who actually ate it ) -- But to Alec, it just looked more like the stuff Izzy tried feeding himself and Jace over a dozen times, yet they always refused. “ It doesn’t look very edible so, no thanks I’ll pass. ” An annoyed huff then leaves the raven haired Shadowhunter’s lips, as Alec continues to wait for his new friend, Magnus. But, the longer Magnus takes to show, the more out of place Alec feels just loitering around.
New York was constantly overflowing with new tourists. And being around mundanes was like being surrounded by a bunch of annoying little ants. They were everywhere. All over the place. Clueless and blind to the very world they lived in. Alec swore he’d never understand them. Ever. Yet, that didn’t stop him from protecting them from monsters and demons alike, anyway. Including the short, petite blonde girl who passed him on the sidewalk. The very same girl who Alec quickly noted wasn’t watching where she was going. The cellular device she transported in her hands disrupted her focus and therefore there came a point where Alec had no choice but to step in and prevent her from getting swept off her feet and flattened on the street by an oncoming yellow taxi. The driver honked as his hands grabbed the blonde’s waist and hoisted her up in the air and then back onto the sidewalk, “ You should really pay more attention to where walk. Next time, you won’t be so lucky. ”
