For our little crowd of rarepair shippers, either Jarizona or Roura with New Years countdown/party
Cute!! I'm gonna go with Jarizona for this one. Thank you to @imtooobsessedrn for helping me brainstorm for this one. Also the HSM reference was unintentional oops
11:50 pm, December 31st.
Arizona looked at the clock from across the room. She's been here since the early afternoon helping Katkat set up for the party, and now she was ready to get back home.
Mostly because she hasn't even had the chance to barely say anything to her crush the entire night. That was a big part of why she just wanted the New Year's Eve Party to be over with.
"The clock isn't going to tick any faster the more you stare at it." Bernie walked up next to her, holding two plates of ube cake.
"Just let me try, it could work." Arizona joked as she took one of the cakes and took a bite.
"Why don't you try to enjoy the party? You and Katkat did a great job with it." Bernie pointed out, barely audible over the loud music and crowd of people. "Or is this about Jade?" she lowered her voice.
Arizona sighed as she nodded. Bernie was the only person who knew about her crush on Jade, even if she felt it was obvious.
"I've barely seen her all night." She said before both of them heard a familiar yelp and a fit of giggles coming from the karaoke room.
"I think we found her," Bernie smiled as she took Arizona by the wrist "Let's go, follow my lead," she said as Arizona barely found a place to set her cake down before getting dragged across the living room.
They both found Jade taking the microphone to take her turn looking through the list of songs. She picked a song and overheard Hana tell her that the song was actually a duet.
Before Jade could say anything, Bernie pushed Arizona toward the makeshift stage. "I'll sing it with you," Arizona said before she could run back out of the room.
"Oh, I was gonna sing both parts by myself. but we can sing it together!" Jade said, beaming. "As long as I take the part with more lines."
"Deal," Arizona said as she took the second microphone.
After they were finished singing, they watched a few others sing a girl group song as they waited for the final countdown. Arizona stole glances at Jade as they watched the other party-goers. Jade cheered as loud as she could to the other performers, and her enthusiasm felt contagious.
"Two more minutes to the new year!" They heard a voice call out from the doorway in between songs. Jade looked at her with her eyes beaming in excitement, "We should find a good spot to watch the fireworks."
Arizona followed the shorter girl sneak through the outside patio in the crowd of people. They were at the last minute of the countdown until the New Year as Jade led them to the front of the crowd.
30, 29, 28...
"I'm definitely getting taller this year, it has to work this time," Jade said as she looked at some others jumping as tall as they could.
Arizona raised an eyebrow to her “You say that every single year.”
“And this is the year it has to work!”
10, 9, 8…
“I have a feeling that this is going to be a great year, even if you stay the same height.” Arizona teased her.
“Oh yeah? Why do you think that?” Jade asked.
5, 4, 3…
in the last two seconds, an idea hit Arizona. Was it a great idea? Not really, but she had one last chance before the night was over.
2, 1…Happy New Year!
As she heard Jade start to screech, Arizona quickly pressed their lips together. She felt anxiety when Jade stiffened under her touch, but quickly melted into the kiss.
They heard the fireworks start as they pulled apart but kept each other close. Jade smiled at her, and Arizona felt like it was just them in the world.
“If that’s how you think I can get taller, I think we should try a bit more,” Jade smirked as she leaned in for another kiss.
