The journey from "No history, no self. Know history, know self" to student organizing for ethnic studies to teaching towards an education for liberation prepared me for this moment. On Tuesday, I successfully defended my dissertation "Transformative Youth Organizing: A Decolonizing Social Movement Framework" with the power and strength of my ancestors and with the love of my community. I am blessed to have #DrAntoniaDarder #DrShawnGinwright and #DrErnestoColín on my committee, who were incredibly supportive and who helped me see the transformative possibilities that can emerge from the painful labor of love called my dissertation. I felt seen and validated so deeply that I was moved to tears today.
