Leah Shapiro (Los Angeles, November ’13) “THE DRUM THING” is a photographic book project featuring the most talented and established drummers in the world today. So far, I have photographed and interviewed over 100 drummers. Each is photographed in their private rehearsal space - from studios, bedrooms and basements to garages and gardens. This access allowed me to observe their everyday environments, experience their styles of playing up close - and capture as best as I could, the true essence of these artists’ personalities and lifestyles. “
