I am seriously considering not doing band and drum line next year. My grades are not good and I can't wait until this season ends, as much as I love it, just because I will have more time for studying and focusing on academics.
I know the whole dropping out of an activity your senior year doesn't look good for colleges, but if I were to do it and then have my grades go up (yes I am aware that the grades don't matter as much for senior year), I would hope that they would see that I learned to better prioritize things? Like I would still keep working to save up for college apps and living expenses when I move out, but I would have so much more time to study and actually understand what I need to to do well on exams, both in class and IB.
At the same time, I want to cry thinking about not being a part of those programs anymore, and have in the past. Music is something that I am so passionate about and taking something that I love out of my life sounds terrifying. It is my stress relief mechanism from school and anything going on outside of it. I don't know if I really am willing to give it up. And I don't have room in my schedule for jazz band so the most I could do would be symphonic band in second semester, which I guess is better than nothing.
I really don't know what to do, help?
