It was raining.
The night was cold and wet, the sky was being lighted by the lightning breaking into the darkness. Rain fell down hard and fast, the wind pushed the trees and leaves around as the world seemed to be in a deep state of sleepiness.
Bofur stopped the car just outside the wooden house of Thranduil, he glanced to the right to see Bilbo fast asleep with his mouth open and some spit coming down to the window. He sighed turning around to see Thorin watching the house with a glassy stare, he had on his hand a big bottle of whisky that was almost empty.
“We here?” Thorin asked placing his hand on the handle of the door.
Bofur rolled his eyes thinking perhaps this wasn’t such a good idea, he then turned to Bilbo then back to Thorin. The things he did for love were ridiculous.
“Yes, Thorin, this is his house...” Bofur watched as Thorin tried to open the door of the car once, twice, thrice without any success.
“You door’s broken.” Thorin spoke slowly, his words coming out in slurred patterns.
“My door is not broken, you’re too drunk to open it for yourself.” Bofur explained taking his belt off. “Want me to help you?”
Thorin furrowed his brows pushing the door without actually trying to open it, Bofur rolled his eyes, he stood and knelt on the car seat to help Thorin with the door. The cold air of the night sneaked inside the car, Bofur shivered while Thorin jumped startled falling on his ass, the bottle almost escaping his hands.
“Wh.what...” Thorin tried to incorporate himself, he shook his head lifting the bottle to his mouth and drinking another long sip from it.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Bofur said but his words fell on deaf ears. Thorin was trying to exit the car, he held himself on the door furrowing his brows in confussion as he tried to walk under the rain.
“It’s weeeet.” Thorin screamed staggering forward with the bottle in hand.
Bofur snorted closing the door and sitting back on the driver’s seat. He glanced at Bilbo who was still fast asleep before watching as Thorin walked aimlessly towards the window where they knew Thranduil room was located.

Thranduil woke up slowly, he felt someone poking at his side insistently. He made sleepy noises while his eyes fluttered open. He sat down almost immediately when he realized Legolas was standing at the side of his bed, the young teen had his brows furrowed and he was obviously rather annoyed by something.
“Legolas, are you all right?” Thranduil sat down turning his lamp off and looking at his son for some signs of sickness or danger.
“Your friend who is not your boyfriend is knocking on my window.” Legolas said flatly glaring at his father as if it was his fault.
Thranduil frowned confused his eyes went from Legolas to his clock, it was past 2am. Thranduil shook his head then turned his attention back to Legolas.
“Who?”
Legolas snorted crossing his arms, “Your friend who is not your boyfriend is throwing rocks at my window calling for you, dad.”
“Thorin? I don’t...We’re not...He is not...” Thranduil stammered feeling his cheeks burn when his son lifted a single eyebrow of incredulity at him. “What are you talking about, Legolas?”
“He is under my window calling for you, dad.” Legolas commented rolling his eyes. “I think you better go because he is in a really bad state...and I think he is drunk.”
Thranduil left his room in a hurry, he came to Legolas’ room and to his window only to see Thorin screaming intelligibly while waving his hands. The rain hasn’t stopped yet thus Thorin was completely wet, with water on his face and his clothes completely drenched. Thranduil clenched his teeth thinking on ways to kill Thorin for such an spectacle and for waking up his son in the middle of the night.
Legolas watched as his father walked past him down the stairs with determination written on his face. Legolas shook his head and went back to his room, he really needed to sleep and he was way too old for this kind of childish drama.
“Thorin!”
Thorin blinked a couple of times, he turned around and his lips curled up in a happy, puppy smile. His eyes lit up and he staggered closer to Thranduil falling on his face when his feet couldn’t synchronize to walk properly. Thorin felt a pair of warm hands on his naked arms, he smiled goofily when he saw the concern expression on Thranduil’s face.
“Luve you.” He mumbled trying to touch the white, smooth cheek of the blond-man.
“You’re an idiot.” Thranduil replied helping him on his feet. “You are a complete idiot. Coming here in the middle of the night, with this rain and drunk! What the fuck were you thinking, Thorin?!”
“Luuuuvee you...”Thorin repeated clinging to Thranduil almost making them fall on the ground again. “But...you...you hated me...”
Thranduil tensed up glancing at the man in his arms, he then noticed the look of pure sorrow on that handsome face and he tried to hold tightly onto Thorin dragging him inside his house.
“I don’t hate you.” Thranduil suddenly mumbled placing Thorin on a chair in the kitchen.
Thorin snorted shaking his head, he waved away Thranduil’s hand shaking his head while narrowing his eyes at Thranduil.
“’f course you do...you hate cuz you won’t luve me.” Thorin rested his head on the counter with a miserable expression attached to his face.
Thranduil tensed up watching as Thorin closed his eyes resting on the counter, his clothes dripping water on the floor while his knees and face showed signs of scratches there. The blond-man leaned closer, his warm hand cleaning away some mud from Thorin’s face.
“Why don’t you like me?” Thorin mumbled glancing at Thranduil.
Thranduil sighed kneeling down in front of Thorin, the blond man leaned in shaking his head.
“You’re an idiot.” Thranduil mumbled cleaning some more mud. “But you’re my idiot.”
“I am.” Thorin replied with a puppy smile just before he fall into a drunken sleep.
Thranduil sighed knowing in the morning he would need to speak with Thorin about this. About what they were playing at and what they were going to do from now on.
For now, all Thranduil wanted to do was to help Thorin clean up and put him into bed. The rest could wait.
