"Joke Is Costly," Windsor Star. January 13, 1943. Page 11. ---- Ordered Party in B.C. to Put Up Their Hands and Give Cash --- TRAIL, B.C., Jan. 13. - A New Year's "practical joke" cost Horace Williams of Trail $60 Tuesday when he was fined that sum in police court following his conviction on a charge of assault with intent to rob.
Williams pleaded not guilty to the charge, laid after he ordered a party of four in a parked car last January 1 to put up their hands and give him their money. Two young men in the car overpowered him and called police.
Williams said he had been drinking and thought the occupants of the car were friends of his. He decided to play a "joke" on them, he said, and tied a handkerchief over his face, took a flashlight and held the handle of a hairbrush to represent a gun.
William is married, with five children. He has resided here 14 years.
Obviously fake, but this is pretty funny too!
