School wasn’t difficult for Eleanore. In fact, at the risk of being label-
ed a GEEK or a nerd, she often enjoyed school. Like most teen-
agers, however, by the end of the school day, she would be running
on fumes. Today was not unlike any other, even at the beginning of
her third year of high school, so when the final bell rang, Eleanore
dug into her book bag for the pack of cigarettes she kept on her at
all times.
Her mother didn’t KNOW she smoked. In fact, her mother would
have her head if she knew, but Eleanore had picked up the bad ha-
bit and didn’t care enough to stop. By all accounts, Eleanore Wolff
was a GOODIE-GOODIE so she could afford a vice or two. Of
course, keeping secrets meant she had to hide every time the mood
struck.
As she left the school’s back door, she made her way to her usual
spot and stifled a GROAN as she saw the school’s cheerleaders
had gathered there, loitering. Ever the ANTI-SOCIAL butterfly,
Eleanore made her way to Plan B only to find it, too, was occupied.
Finding another smoking student far more appealing than a gaggle
of popular girls, she consigned to join the stranger.
“Do you...mind if I join you?” She waved her pack of cigarettes as a
motive for her approach.
