MY FURSONA DOESN'T HAVE A NAME???

So on a recent stream (plug plug) I got asked what my fursona's name and it dawned on me... MY FURSONA DOESN'T HAVE ONE!!

I always considered my fursona as an extension of myself and just how I would present myself as me but a hyena online. When I officially changed my gamertag/online name to DrunkenHyena, I just went by Hyena/Hyeena/Yeen - there isn't anything wrong with this as a nickname, I like it and it even works in-person, but it is not a name (plus there is like a bunch of people online that call themselves DrunkenHyena including crypto coin scam).

I want to take my online presence somewhat more seriously and this became the final push to work on and commission an updated ref sheet and as part of that, my boi is to finally get a name!

As a fan of alchohol I thought naming myself after booze would be a fun and obvious way to go about it. I thought to myself, what is my favourite alcoholic drink? It is Soju...

Soju is an incredible drink. Neat it is smooth, flavourful and got a deceptively high ABV percentage. In a cocktail, Soju can provide a complementary flavour without ruining others. Soju is also korean... I am not korean - and as a Black British person, giving myself or my fursona a korean name is frankly cringe.

I went through a couple of other names closer to home, I was honestly considering the name Guinesss - sure it may be Irish, which I am not, but due to colonialism it is very popular in Nigeria and I do like it. However the name didn't sit right.

I couldn't find another drink or cocktail that sat well as a name so I broaden my list to just drinks I like - soft and all... And then it hit me so fast.

SUPERMALT

I fucking love Supermalt, it is a uniquely delicious malt barely soft drink that you will find at any party hosted or primarily full of Black British individuals. And as a name, it is quick, snappy and doesn't feel culturely awkward to do.

So, an updated design and ref sheet is still required but if you ever see my fursona, you now know what to call them...
