I still remember the winter when my dad moved from Beijing to Shanghai for his new job, he spoke to my mom and I on the phone, complaining about the cold and humid weather that he could barely stand: “My bed is so cold that I have to roll my hot water bottle over to heat it up before going to sleep. My clothes won’t dry in days!” For someone from northern China like my dad who’s used to the dry winter with central heating, spending the winter in the south is difficult. Even though the temperature outside is usually higher in the south, the humidity can penetrate every layer of your clothes and grab your bones with its cold hands. On the other hand, winter in northern China can be equally unbearable to someone from the south. One of my former colleagues from Hangzhou used to cry everyday in the office: “It’s so dry here! My skin is peeling off my face!” #northvssouth #winterinchina #drywinter #humidwinter #sliceoflife #chineselife #tinyeyescomics https://www.instagram.com/p/B651zyhiS9f/?igshid=1utacdkulqopx
