This is a story about how awesome my husband is, and a DS9 script.
I found eBay this fall. I mean, I knew it existed before, but I didn’t know how many cool Trek items were available for sale, and original scripts caught my interest. I have a pretty strict price ceiling because spending money on “frivolous” items can stress me. So one day, as I perused eBay, there were three new scripts from the same seller. “Emissary” was $49.99. “A Man Alone” was $29.99. “Past Prologue” was... $99.99.
I complained to Mr. Nova how the seller was an evil genius, charging more for the script which set off the Garak/Bashir ship. While I was dithering about making an offer which was still more than I really wanted to spend, it sold. I was sad. Mr. Nova told me that’s how these things go when you collect. (I hadn’t since... I don’t know, Beanie Babies? Pogs?)
Then Christmas came.
He bought it for me!! Now, I had thought it might be nice if he did, but then I told myself it was just wishful thinking and not to get hung up on the idea lest I be disappointed in what he did get. Well, I was a very excited shipper Christmas morning, as you can imagine.
(If you’re wondering, this was apparently an intermediate font used for DS9 before they settled on the final font. The “Emissary” script has TNG font and a few of the earliest episodes have this one.)
I haven’t found any good places online for Trek script enthusiasts to gather, so my excitement is spilling out into this post. ;) If anyone wants to chat on the subject, feel free to message me.
