// A Ray of Sunlight

A quiet hum fills the air as Adlet lethargically makes his way across CDM’s campus. His class was due to start any minute now but he couldn’t find it within himself to really care. It’s not like he had any plans in attending today anyways, so there was no point in expending any energy in thinking about it.
Following a familiar path, Adlet finds himself at the base of a tree nestled next to one of the various buildings that made up CDM. With practiced ease he scales it’s large trunk and, using one of the thicker branches that jut towards the large window, makes his way to the structure’s surprisingly spacious ledge. This was probably one of his favorite spots to frequent. The ledge was big enough for him to lay on, it was quiet most times of the day, and it was high up, where generally no one looked. Which means it gave him privacy too. Basically, it was all he could ever want in a nice napping spot.
It takes a bit of maneuvering but he eventually makes it onto the ledge and carefully adjusts himself into a comfortable position to settle down in. Up above the shade of the trees, the suns rays could fully embrace him and it draws a content sigh from his lips. His eyes slowly drifts shut as the warmth seeping into his skin relaxes him.
Sleep had only just starting calling him when he hears footsteps from below. Normally this wouldn’t be of much consequence but when a familiar voice calls out to him, he finds himself perking up, uncurling from his comfortable position to peek over the edge of his perch. A familiar face greets Adlet and he gives his roommate a lazy smile in greeting.
“My, my, what a surprise,” There’s a brief pause where he seems to consider his words before he amends his statement, “though, after some consideration, maybe it’s not. To quote my wonderfully articulate father, ‘Only a few find the way, some don't recognize it when they do and some don't ever want to.’ So, really, I shouldn’t be shocked.” He doesn’t give his friend a chance to ponder his words before he continues, “What brings you here, Aristophanes? I thought skipping class was my thing.”
