Descripton: This is a photo that has been edited for a magazine. My guess is that they took multiple photos of the women and later, edited three of them together to make it look like a nice, cool illusion. It is for a fashion ad so they had to make it look very nice and colourful. 

I think we were supposed to notice the photo-manipulation because its a magazine, everyone knows they edit magazines. I think they also want us to see how hard they worked on the editing and pictures as well. I think the best category that would fit this picture is Aesthetic because they made the picture look much better than it would without all the editing.

The smoke from these buildings are from a Isreali air raid in the suburbs of Beirut. The destruction and flattened buildings resulted in such smoke. The photo was taken by Adnan Hajj, who then used Photoshop to clone and darken the smoke to exaggerate bombing damage done by Israeli warplanes. 

I don’t believe the edits on this image were meant to be recognizable and therefore, fall under the category of aesthetic. The photographer didn’t actually notify anyone of his edits, until an American political blog found out. The smoke was already in the air and the photographer just darkened it to exaggerate or show more boldness in his shot. It isn’t deceptive, nor does it make the viewer think creatively in some sort, but the darker colour does add to its overall appeal and vibe.

This photo was taken when Obama was doing a speech about paying it forward. The image was on the nation review magazine and the sign people were holding in the photo said forward. However the editors edit the sign and replace the word forward with abortion. It was meant to be notice as they are trying to promote information of abortion. The purpose of the photo is deceptive because by editing they are convincing something else which was not the original message. The way the people were standing, holding the paper, cheering and clapping made it seem like it is real. Also the expressions on peoples faces make this entire photo about abortion true but in reality the entire photo was about something completely different. Another thing is that showing the name of the original photographer makes it believable that those signs and event is true when in reality the change was made by the magazine people.

This photo is of a Syrian fighter opposing against the government in a Telata village. Narciso Contreras admitted that he digitally removed his colleague’s video camera from the left corner so it wouldn't distract viewers from the main point of the photo. He covered it by using Photoshop and cloning the pieces from the background.

The manipulation was not meant to be noticed. 

The purpose of this photo was for the aesthetics because the photographer wanted the photo to look better without the camera in the corner.
