Proposal for Project 3: Light (revised)

For my final series based on the investigation of light I will attempt to chose four objects and transform them into something different. This can be achieved from a variety of lighting techniques which involve artificial spot/side lighting, natural sun lighting/shading as well as various methods of colour light filtering and touch ups on Photoshop. For these transformations I have chosen to use coral found in the sea beds and use the interesting forms to create images which leave people to wonder what these objects really are. Coral alone is quite interesting and not everyone will be common with its appearance. My task will be to accentuate its naturalistic features in producing a series which people can understand as well as find different to what they imagine the objects to be.

For my next shoot i have decided to focus on particularly scale in lighting. I have chosen to look solely at sea objects such as shells, driftwood, seaweed and coral as i think i can manipulate the human perseption better. I am also going to practise composing scenes and attempting to photograph them to try and convey a specific narrative in my images. This will require carefully considering scale to humanise the objects as well as deciding on how i want to portray the objects eg, landscapes or architecture. From this it will be helpful to look at pre existing framing commonly used for such subjects and attempt to re create it using my objects and light.

Project 3 Proposal: Light

For this project of light i am going to look at natural objects which have their own unique forms. By using various lighting techniques i am going to attempt to accentuate these organic forms in an interesting manner which portrays them in a perspective we are not used to seeing them in. In particular i am going to look at cacti plants as they often have elements of repititive forms which are unique as well as various beach objects such as coral, dried seaweed, seashells and driftwood. I think these are objects that are very common but often looked past and their unnique forms and structures are missed.
