Spent the whole day trying to fix and restore my computer because of it rebooting after shut down (Kernel-Power 41 (63) error)... -_- Hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

Then I had the issue of Dark Souls not running with the DSFIX mod’s unlockFPS value set to ‘1′.

I forgot about the DEP setting on my computer... Place DARKSOULS.exe into the exception list Data Execution Prevention, so that the game runs with FPS unlocked on Steam.

This post isn’t very well as detailed as I’d make it but it’s really a reference in case. The System Restore just put the DEP settings back to default, I didn’t even need to reinstall Steam.

It’s really one of those small things that you can overlook. I was looking on a Steam forum and someone’s reply had reminded me.

Does anyone who has PC Dark Souls and uses DSFIX know why the left side of the screen is like this on the main screen and opening cinematic?

Normal in-game scenes (like the bird flying you to Undead Asylum) doesn’t have this. I just noticed when I was making a practice character because I’m about to start a new game very soon.

I don’t know why it’s like that but then the main screen fixes itself up, like this:

I’m not sure if it’s the same for the opening cinematic. It’s a minor thing but it’s still kinda annoying. I’ve spent a couple hours trying to go over my DSFIX configurations.

I’ve owned Dark Souls prepare to Die for the PC for years now, beaten it several times. And I just now realized that I never once actually had DSfix working during any of that. I actually used DSfix today and holy shit I can’t believe how much of a difference it makes.
