Tommy was cared for when he was alive
I have seen so many people (mostly on twitter but some on here) talk about how people only seem to care about Tommy now that he is dead, and while to some degree its true people are talking about how they cared about him more now that he is dead, that doesn’t mean that people didn’t care about him when he was alive. So here are a list of people who cared about Tommy when he was alive, who know he is dead.
(I won’t really be diving into their reactions to his death here but I am going to be making a post about that so comment if you want to be added to a list I will @ when I post that)

Captain Puffy: Puffy saw herself as a maternal figure to Tommy (and all the other kids on the server). She was forgiving of him when others weren’t and I think we have all seen the clip or the stream where she asked politely for Tommy to give her her stuff back instead of immediately going fight mode on him, which worked. As soon as she learned even part of what Dream did she completely disowned him and blew his stuff up because of Tommy. She has openly shared how she cares about Tommy long before he died.
Awesamdude: Sam was openly very caring of Tommy. He sent Sam Nook to help protect Tommy and give him back some of his childhood, after learning what happened to him at Dram’s hands. Despite the fact that he left Tommy in the prison cell with dream, which, realistically was the right call to make with the info he had at the time (I am going to make a post about this). He on multiple occasions has shared that he cared about Tommy similar to how Puffy did and has fought off his allies and the only people he trusts/trusted to protect Tommy. He had sworn to protect Tommy after what he learned from Dream. Even though he wasn’t successful he truly cared about Tommy which is seen in his reaction to his death.
Tubbo: While this one is obvious I’m still going to include it anyway. Tubbo cared about Tommy a lot. He was Tommy’s best friend and Tommy was his. Tubbo fought by Tommy’s side almost always, even giving up stuff he cared about multiple times to help Tommy. He always had Tommy’s best interest at heart and even protected Tommy’s discs. He was willing to give up his own life to fight for Tommy and his discs. Despite exiling Tommy (with Tommy and everyone’s best interest in mind), he immediatly felt bad and tried to reach back out but was scared because of how he hurt Tommy. I don’t think I need to go one about this much more because everyone knows how much Tubbo cares about Tommy and this is well known by everyone including Tommy.
Eret: Eret has on many many occasions expressed regret for his actions. He has talked openly about how he cared for Tommy. Despite not being able to show it very often because of their previous actions. There is not much to say here but she definitely cared about Tommy and his friends enough to give up her crown for them.
Jack Manifold: Jack is an interesting example because he was actively trying to kill Tommy, but this was as a result of Tommy canonically killing him and hurting him. But at the same time on multiple occasions Jack has put everything aside to help Tommy such as doomsday and the disc war finale. He has said he misses the old L’manberg and the old Tommy before Tommy killed him. Despite everything Tommy’s death made Jack realize he doesn’t hate Tommy and he doesn’t think he ever could have killed him. Tommy’s death made him realize this but it isn’t something new.
Niki: Niki is similar to Jack, but the difference is she never really had a reason to hate Tommy and she realized that before Tommy’s death. She actually has been shown to care about Tommy on multiple occasions, he has helped her
Ranboo: Despite Ranboo and Tommy not getting to have a lot of interactions Ranboo definitely cared for Tommy. He was one of the only people to keep in contact with Tommy while he was in exile. He helped Tommy with his pranks and tried to help where he could. Ranboo really wanted to help despite not always being allowed to.
I hope this post shows you that people cared for Tommy before he died and this isn’t something new
