Nach einer Kollision und zur anschließenden Bergung des beschädigten Fahrzeugs gab's für einige Runden eine Safetycar-Phase. Diese und der gute getimte Boxenstopp von René Rast verhalfen im dazu, von ganz letzter Position auf Platz 1 zu fahren.
