A quick note to all the people out there wondering if I actually started this blog or not.. Right now much is happening on the personal side of life, but blogging regularly will commence soon I am happy to say.
I want now to take the chance to explain how I think about "Duality" - dual purpose is very important when considering measures for sustainability. As an innovator I believe it is one of the biggest challenge - so I think you should ask yourself once you have created an idea or invention- "What else can this do besides the main point?" Think about that. The value increases dramatically if you whatever you are working on has bonus features and can be implemented in various situations because it creates convenience. Convenience and intrinsic value go hand in hand if the innovation is going to be successful, and getting people to change behavior on a broad basis comes from a systematic change - therefor we need to innovate in ways that change the system in order to, from convenience, change individual behavior. I am a realist and an idealist. I lead through example in my daily life (or try to at least) because of my ideals. Although I know that systematic, structural changes will yield quicker results in the good fight for a sustainable planet (although they take longer to initiate..). The innovations that have duality in function will likely incur less resistance from the masses because of their convenience. Keep it simple, make it easy for everyone and success will follow!
