I finally managed to convince Carl to come with me to Günter's. It was a bit chilly, so the queue was extraordinarily short. Robbed of my usual 30 minutes of deliberation, I went for the safest option: Alpen Wurst.
Carl, being the big show-off that he is, declared that he was having a dubbelkorv. I warned him of course, and told him that a single korv was enough to ruin one's apetite for the rest of the day, but he wouldn't listen. In the end he did finish the whole thing, and claimed to feel fine. He did ask to stay seated awhile after we ate though, so I suspect he might have been a bit more full than he let on. In addition to the novelty of the dubbelkorv, I also got to witness someone order a vegetarian sausage for the first time. We learned that double vegetarian sausage actually means four soy sausages in one bun. I doubt the quantity makes up for lack of taste though.
