the way introjection works in DID is genuinely nuts lmao. obviously this isn't the only way this functions, but usually how it goes for A -> B splitting for us (if B is an introject, obviously.)
also chillin' is a funny way to spell freaked the fuck out
Question about the way splitting work for you all! So the "A to B" way of splitting, is alter A still around or did they become alter B?
Also, making sure I understand this, if alter A is unable to accept past trauma they may split like this?
Hope you don't mind the questions!
(also, if anyone wants to see pages of my textbooks (they focus on dissociative disorders and treatment of DID), you're free to ask for anything, and I'll see if it's there!)

Image 1:
"A is still around, yes! But A can lose traits or parts of themself too."
"B will usually absorb, hold, or process the trauma instead of A, since A was unable to."
"A likely loses memories of the trauma, or becomes heavily dissociated from it."
"The loss of memories can end up be(ing) more than just the trauma too. Sometimes, things associated with the trauma are lost (too). A and B are also likely very similar, at least at first. (B might even think they're A.)"
Image 2:
"Because of the loss of memories, A's personality may change slightly too. (Especially if the lost memories were defining to A in some way.)"
"This can all be very distressing for both A and B."
"And yes, not being able to accept trauma will/can cause splits like this!"
"I use *realize instead of accept though! Mainly since that's what's used in textbooks."
[*Realize] "The moment of becoming aware or understanding something fully."
"If one is unable to realize, accept, confront, or otherwise cope with a trauma, A -> B splitting can occur."
"Also! We love questions, ask a billion. (It's fun to talk!)"
Hey so I hope you don't mind one of us messaging like this, but I just wanted to say thanks for helping me better understand our system. We have an alter (Raine) who would frequently think that they're me (Terry) after they showed up, and always felt 'different' somehow - turns out they might be an "A to B" split from me, like the one you described. We have no memory of the details and can't confirm because we were an undiscovered system at the time, but thank you for sharing your experiences!
Welcome to our system account, made because being a system publicly is scary, and this is easier!
Please do interact with us, we rarely get to openly interact outside of private spaces, and it'd be great to talk to others freely without fear of exposing who we are.
💖 We're a professionally recognized DID system, working through a shit ton of trauma and who knows what else. (In therapy as of now.)
💝 Be patient, please.
💖 Our system is semi-large, I don't know actual numbers, I as in the host! We're a covert system, and I wasn't really supposed to know yet so I still know fairly little about most things going on.
Please read our Q&A

⭐️ A random question, but, when alters who are introjects fuse with other alters who are not, would the resulting fused alter be considered an introject or not? Same question again for all alters involved being introjects.
This isn't really important and is more just semantics. I think I'd personally try to categorize the resulting alter as either, entirely dependent on how connected they are to the former parts.
Since there's a lot of types of fusion, there's a lot of wiggle room, but for the sake of simplicity, let's go with the good ol' "two alters merge into a more whole alter that is a combination of the former two yet is new regardless."
I think under that circumstance, I'd say they'd *probably* not be categorized as an introject anymore since they likely lose the traits that made them that in the first place. But it's nuanced, I can see it either way.
