I see a lot of takes along the lines of “Wow, people are seriously really mean to Karin’s art, it’s kind of cute actually, why do people treat it like it’s a memetic hazard” and like. From what we, the audience, see, that’s wholly understandable. But also, everyone’s reaction to Karin is completely demystified once you realize it’s supposed to look like Oriko Magica.

Hyper-angular features

Blatantly mismatched eyes, particularly receding from the hairline so the artist doesn’t have to draw hair covering eyes

Extremely stylized head ornamentation (e.g. Karin’s Felicia, Kuroe’s Kyouko and Kyubey) that doesn’t look quite right
