Wow! #Dubrovnick took my by complete surprise. The ancient walled city hanging on the edge Adriatic Sea is a fairytale land come to life. #stunning #kingslanding #got #beardedhomo (at Dubrovnik, Croatia) https://www.instagram.com/p/BoLy6uXH7Sz/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1vdd08yyjvqaw

Reminiscing about some of my travels. Here we were in #dubrovnick in Croatia. What a quaint village surrounded by castle walls. #thingsthatwarmtheheart #dbrovnickcroatia #ilovecruising #familyvacations #vacationing #croatiavacation #freedomlifestyle #workfromanywhere (at Dubrovnik, Croatia)
NOTE: I wrote this blog while in Mostar and Dubrovnik, but I forgot to put it up!! I am very sorry!
After leaving Sarajevo, I travelled by bus to Mostar. Mostar is about a two hour journey South-West from the capital.
The bus journey was amazing, due to the countryside. I didn’t realise how mountain-ey Bosnia and Herzegovina was until being there. The mountains are huge and completely made of rock… just so beautiful. The river which we followed for most of the journey was the most amazing blue/green colour and reminded me of rivers and lakes in New Zealand.
Mostar itself was beautiful, especially the old town. But cobble streets and centuries old buildings stood along side ruins of buildings, which was suffered during the Siege of Mostar. Just like Sarajevo the physical reminders of the war are everywhere.
None more so than the Stari Most or the Old Bridge in english. The bridge is easily the most recognisable part of Mostar and is the centre of the town. The bridge which stood for a couple of hundred years, was destroyed during the battle by the Croats or the Bosniaks (depends which story you believe). It was rebuilt in the early 2000s. The bridge itself while does look fairly new… fits perfectly with the original buildings around it.
Mostar was more expensive than Sarajevo, due to the amount of tourist doing day-trips from Dubrovnik. But it definitely a place I would visit for a weekend again.
From Mostar I travelled to Dubrovnik, Croatia. I fell in love with this place, as soon as I saw the old walled city and the sea. It is probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to and I wished I had more time there. Unfortunately I only got one day before I had to fly out, but in that day I went for a swim in the chilly ocean, eat lots of seafood and had two ice-creams… so I think I did well.
I would love to travel back to Croatia and see more of the country, especially Dubrovnik. The only issue with Dubrovnik is that in summer the place is swamped with tourist. But early April wasn’t so bad.
Croatia is more expensive than Bosnia, so eating out you had to a more picky. We did manage to have two very good meals.. which didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
After my two week adventure in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I am back home to gloomy Denmark. I have three more weeks here at university and than I am back off travelling again.. maybe to Sweden this time.

Arches and Walkways - Dubrovnik, Croatia
Arches and Walkways – Dubrovnik, Croatia
That was one of the great things about Dubrovnik.. All the little passageways everywhere. Arches and cobblestone side streets were a photographers dream..
As everyone who knows me knows.. I don’t really shoot the major landmarks much..Well, not to post anyway… There are plenty of those pictures out there already. I prefer a laid back and back alley approach to a city.. But there are exceptions..…
