Baby it’s Cold Outside
Well.. sorry if it’s a bit short ^^;; but I tried with what I could do..
“Fuck!” Jonghyun yelped from the kitchen. Jinki heard something metal collide with the counter just down the hallway. “This isn’t fair!” the disappointed man groaned.
Leaving his laptop and final essay behind, Jinki stood to follow the sound. “What is it Jonggie?” Jinki asked, entering the kitchen only to find Jonghyun standing amongst an explosion of brown powder.
“I wanted to make hot cocoa for us because it’s all snowing and cute,” Jonghyun sniffed, obviously close to tears, “but then, when I opened the container, it exploded everywhere. I just wanted to do something nice because it’s finals week.”
Jinki put his hands on his hips, amazed that the container burst in the first place, “How exactly did you manage that?”
“I don’t know, but I wanted hot cocoa before snuggles,” He crossed his arms and stuck out his bottom lip in a way he knew would entice Jinki to do what he wanted.
“Well, what do you suggest we do?” Jinki sighed, realising he wasn’t going to get any more work done on his next paper.
Jonghyun looked up at Jinki with his best puppy dog eyes, “Please, can we pretty please go to the supermarket?”
Jinki contemplated it, he hated to disappoint his boyfriend, but the snow hadn’t let up since earlier that day. He glanced out the window, and decided it might be fun. “We can go, but you have to bundle up. I don’t want you to get sick,” He kissed Jonghyun on his powdery nose, “And you should also change your clothes. You’re absolutely covered in cocoa.”
Jonghyun looked down and blushed, realising the mess he had made, and ran off to Jinki’s bedroom, grabbing his boyfriend's favourite pair of sweatpants and a plain hoodie. Two items of clothing that seemed to swallow Jonghyun and his more petite figure.
“Let’s go!” Jonghyun smiled, bundled into as many layers as he could, his scarf covering almost half of his face.
Jinki grinned, wrapping his arm around Jonghyun’s waist. “You’re too cute.” He kissed the only bit of skin he could see before he had Jonghyun blushing and trying to get away.
“Come on Jinki, let’s go!” The shorter man wriggled out of Jinki’s grasp, opening the door to the cold, blustery air. Almost instantly, Jonghyun turned into Jinki, hiding from the wind.
Jinki chuckled “That hot cocoa isn’t going to buy itself.”
Jonghyun looked up with determination in his eyes, “Right.” His gloved hand found its way to Jinki’s, and he lead the elder down the slippery stairs, and into the snowy wonderland.
The wind whipped at their faces, chilling Jonghyun to the bone, yet he trudged along, slipping with every other step, trying to make it up and over the hill on the way to their super market. With every effort, Jinki found himself giggling at how determined Jonghyun was. The smaller man clamoured up the hill, pulling Jinki behind. He wasn’t sure if Jonghyun needed him there because he wanted him there, or if Jinki was the only reason Jonghyun would be able to get up the hill. Jinki found himself constantly stopping Jonghyun from sliding down the hill and back to their apartment building.
Once they reached the top, the two turned and looked down the next hill they had to conquer. Jinki grinned, it was his turn to guide time. Pulling Jonghyun forward, the two tumbled down the hill, slipping and sliding on the fresh snow. Jinki was laughing, enjoying the trip while Jonghyun didn’t seem as amused.
By the time the two ended up at the front of the supermarket, they were covered head to toe in snow. They entered the store, receiving many strange looks from others in the shop, but they ignored them. Although Jonghyun was shivering, Jinki kept an arm around him, a simple gesture that warmed the shorter man. They walked towards the drink section to look at the options.
Jonghyun and Jinki ended up purchasing a new tin of hot cocoa, and some marshmallows because Jonghyun insisted the cocoa wouldn’t be the same without it.
Jinki guided the shivering Jonghyun home. The cold seemed to be too much for him, and he had already developed a sniff by the time they got home.
As soon as they entered the house, Jinki helped Jonghyun out of his wet snow covered clothes, and led him to the couch, wrapping him in the nearest fuzzy blanket he could find. After getting Jonghyun settled, Jinki took it upon himself to begin making the hot cocoa.
Hearing the sounds of Jinki humming while he warmed milk for the cocoa, Jonghyun wasn’t happy. “Jinki!” He called from the couch, still shivering “I was going to make it for us. It was supposed to be a surprise!”
“Surprise? how was this supposed to be a surprise?” He could hear Jinki giggling from the other room.
Jinki entered the room with two mugs and a plate of the cookies his mom had baked for them on a tray, “You really expected to surprise me with hot cocoa after we went and bought it together?” Jinki leaned down and kissed Jonghyun’s forehead.
“Yes, well, not really,” He pouted into the blanket, “You were supposed to be studying, and I was going to surprise you with the cocoa, and then you were going to love me so much you dropped the homework and snuggled with me instead.” Jonghyun explained, curling the blanket tighter around himself as another shiver rippled through him.
“I dropped my homework to get cocoa with you, didn’t I?” He asked, sitting down next to Jonghyun.
“Well, yes, but-” Jonghyun tried to come up with another excuse, but it was no use, Jinki had wrapped his arms around his boyfriend, hoping to help warm him. “I love you Jinki,” Jonghyun admitted after the slight pause.
“I love you too Jonggie,” Jinki smiled, kissing Jonghyun on the side of his head, “Now, do you want to watch rudolph or elf?”
“Elf,” Jonghyun smiled, snuggling into his boyfriend. It was going to be a long cold night, but Jonghyun was glad he had Jinki to spend it with, and if they were lucky, school would be cancelled the next day, and they could spend all morning together, spending their time doing more intimate things. But for now, the two fell asleep in each other’s arms. Happy to be warming each other.
