Philippine Ducati Weekend 2014: Weekend well-spent
I don't know anything about motorbikes or owning one but who knows what the future holds that I might get to spend my weekend with a Ducati bike. It's a 2-day lavish and luxurious biking lifestyle that I experienced firsthand even as a non motorbike enthusiast. Thanks to Ducati Philippines for making me a bike aficionado since then.
Philippine Ducati Weekend is based on the popular World Ducati Week held in Italy where Ducati enthusiasts meet and get together to share their passion and experiences on Ducati bikes.
It was a sunny Saturday morning that met the Ducatistis (what the Ducati Owners call themselves) as they gathered around Mckinley Hill Information in Taguig for the takeoff to Clark International Speedway last November 23. One good way to start up Philippine Ducati Weekend 2014.
As soon as the riders arrived in Pampanga, they are welcomed by a grand entrance at the registration area.
To top it all off, each and every one of them was given a VIP parking space for their Ducati bikes.
After getting their bikes dirty, they have to bring it to the bike wash area where they can watch these 2 lovely ladies clean it for them for free. Then use it again to Motokhana, Diavel drag race and unlimited track time with other Ducatistis.
Although, the main highlight of the event for a Ducatista is to burn rubber on the track with 2011 World Superbike Champion Carlos Checa. Aside from showcasing his mad riding skills, he shared tips and advice to fellow riders that they can use for racing as well. He also tackled about the importance of doing everything beyond thy limit, not for the title but for improving one's self. There was a meet and greet session afterwards where photo ops and autograph signing were allowed.
While the men are busy on the race track, their family, guests and friends got to enjoy Photobooth, Spa Party, Henna Tattoo, Bull Ride, Ducati Store and other concessionaires that were set up on the area.
When evening came, a sumptuous dinner was on the menu right after the mini presscon for Ducati's newest motorbike Scrambler headed by Ducati Philippines President Toti Alberto, together with Ducati Asia Pacific General Manager David James, 2011 World Superbike Champion Carlos Checa, 2014 Philippine Superbike Champion Raniel Resuello and Ducatistis Tj Alberto and Jay Carrion. And by the end of the day, everybody's instructed to be on their most fashionable beach wear in yellow for the sneak peak of the much awaited Scrambler bike who gained its popularity back in the 60's to give rise to "fashion trends" which remains very popular up until today.
It was really a long and tiring day but who cares? It's a Scrambler beach party after all. Everyone's excited on dancing and partying all night long as different varieties of food and drinks were served. All of us are looking forward in paying one's hard work. A weekend well spent indeed. Till next Philippine Ducati Weekend!
