#dudley redemption

I'm interested in Dudley for similar reasons that I'm interested in Draco. you're right, he was a product of his environment, and I hope he was given time to grow and learn why the way Harry was raised vs how Dudley was raised was bad. like, there's this precious boy who is so loved by his parents and taught that this other boy is Other and Bad.

I want to see them reconcile and become family. alllllso I love the hc that Dudley has a magical kid and is like "uhhh Harry what do I do"

yes yes a thousand times yes. While I'm very conflicted on Draco and his possible redemption, I love fics where the characters get a proper chance to be better.

Just Dudley Thoughts

I keep seeing this, everyone saying Dudley changed because he saw what a horrible person he was during the Dementor attack, blah blah blah. WRONG.

Dudley changed because Harry saved him, not because the Dementors showed him that he’s a bad person. I don’t even get that! How would they show him that???? Dementors show your worst memories, your fears. Dudley beating up Harry certainly aren’t his worst memories!

Anyway, Dudley changed because for the first time, he saw his cousin, Harry Potter, not the freak. Harry saved Dudley, and suddenly it contradicts everything Petunia and Vernon have ever said about Harry. Suddenly, Harry’s other world is scary, and Harry isn’t some coward, but courageous, and Dudley’s saviour.
