‘ no way, really? y-you’d do that for me? ‘ hesitant, the boy waited for a nod from the headless rider before hauling himself onto her cycle. the vehicle seemed to hum louder in response to his touch, almost causing the boy to jump back out of fear that he pressed something wrong. ‘ t-thanks. i-i was sure i was gonna be late. An Attempt on Vacation || @dullaahan
It was risky business taking a vacation as a back-alley doctor. You could put that message on your answering machine, turn off your cell phone, and leave all the notes and signs you want but someone is still going to get hurt. Asking the whole city to avoid hurting themselves when most of his patients were the Yakuza or other shady people wasn't exactly a practical request. Shinra knew that his free time would be limited when he first decided to be a doctor but he had hoped to get at least some time to spend with just Celty.
This was their plan for such a long time that Shinra had tired himself up just getting worked up about it. He was positive that Celty felt similarly but he wasn't quite sure if it was possible to be more excited than he was. Either way he bounced around the house excitedly while he waited for the Dullahan to return home so they could leave together.
They so rarely got outside together and the last time they organized something like this Izaya had ruined it by calling him repeatedly. With his phone off Shinra couldn't care less about anyone who may need to contact him. Today he would care about one person and one person alone.
"She's taking so loooong!" He groaned as he spread out across the couch with his face buried in one of the couch cushions. "Have mercy and hurry up before someone comes in needing something from us..." Shinra was all for sowing hospitality but this was something he really didn't want ruined. Please let the color gangsters and Yakuza keep a temporary peace and have Shinra and Izaya leave him out of their fights. They could all find a different doctor for the day- he wouldn't be having any of it today.
gently tips his shoulder, writes something on her pda and holds it in front of him. "you don't look okay, what's wrong?"
The blond hair breathes in as the dullahan lightly places a digit upon his shoulder. It catches him off guard at first, until he glances up at her with tears in his eyes. Sniffles are heard as he lowers his gaze to stare at the sidewalk where he stood. He was far from alright and simply wanted to allow himself to fall into someone’s arms and cry.
Looking up at her again, he shudders slightly whilst raising a sleeve to his moistened hues and he nods as he glances over the device.
“I'm fine.
Really, don’t worry about it.”
And so another lie would come to escape him.
