Virginia lawmakers weigh in on Bristol landfill stench, introduce legislation

Virginia Sen. Todd Pillion and Del. Israel O'Quinn released a joint statement on the ongoing stench at the Bristol, Virginia landfill. The lawmakers have introduced budget amendments in the state House and Senate that would allow the Virginia Dept. of Environmental Quality to provide technical assistance to the city. According to the statement, Del. O'Quinn has introduced HB 558, the 'Virginia Energy Innovation Act,' to incentivize the capture of methane coming from the landfill.
