Oh to be Paul Muad'Dib and fake my own death before coming back in a mask to talk shit about my family
As if he didn't cause all the drama in his family for generations 😭
Hi I stumbled across your work and fell in in love. You're super talented I must say. I also wanted to ask, since your very knowledgeable of the lore of dune; is Paul the first boy to be born directly from a BG sister? I know a dude like Feyd is a result of the breeding program but is mother isn't a BG sister, I think. I hope the question made sense.
why thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
okay i'm starting to doubt my own knowledge but i don't think he is?? it's stated in the books that jessica was given the direct order to have a daughter since the bene gesserit can manipulate their bodies and therefore decide the biological sex of their offspring, i think they acted accordingly to whatever was necessary to the breeding program in that moment. but as far as we know the bene gesserit is a women only organization (in terms of people who received a bene gesserit education, i think jessica broke the cycle by teaching first paul and then farad'n)
i did some research also and apparently they manipulated their metabolism for the breeding program only, so i think they could have sons too if their existence isn't relevant to the bene gesserit's plans
after all, it's very possible the bene gesseirt made sure the harkonnens provided a male heir (feyd) so that he could marry Leto's daughter (who then turned out to be Paul dffjdsfj).
EDIT: i checked the Dune Wiki and apparently Feyd's mother was a regular woman and not a BG but i think it's canon in the brian herbert books only and (to no one's surprise) it sounds like bs to me, there's no way feyd's birth wasn't planned by the bene gesserit. i mean why on earth would they put so much pressure on the atreides' offspring and not the harkonnens'???? since there were two families/parties involved in the making of the kwisatz haderach they had to control both of them right?
EDIT 2: the dune encyclopedia (which is way more reliable than brian herbert's book but still isn't canon according to frank herbert) says feyd's mother was a concubine from a minor house. okay, still not a bene gesserit which is ridiculous to me?????????????????
Ah, at least, your picture as an homage, even for Lucilla ! I know there are people who find her unbearable, but for me, this make her endearing in some way. And she has a human side and she remains courageous after all. I think in some some way, she's a lost child who hides a great suffering (I remember well when she cried on gammu, remembering her childhood) and you ?
True!! i mean she was definitely not a saint (none of the bene gesserit are lmao) but i feel like her potential was wasted in the last book, i get the feeling they gave more space to other characters like Tamalana, Bellonda, Murbella and Sheeana maybe to show different opinions and attitudes contrasting Darwi's, so Lucilla wasn't necessarily needed since she was pretty much on her side but i'm still sad they killed her off almost immediately after she had a prominent role in Heretics :/
Also i think Herbert just gave small hints of Lucilla and Darwi's humanity because all Bene Gesserit seem to deal with their "weaker" side at some point, but then they chose the sisterhood, contrary to Jessica
So I'm the God Emperor of Dune anon from last week and I just finished it
I definitely enjoyed it more than last time but the whole book was weirdly horny and I'm not sure I like Duncan as much as I used to
On to the next one!
Oh great!!!! i too finished it pretty quickly because i was in full dune craze but mentally speaking it was hard to read hahaha
and yeah, don't lose hope on Duncan, but the one in god-emperor is by far the worst, i hate him so much dfksjhvsdfh
God-Emperor is definitely t!!he weirdest book out of the six!
Hmm so is it ok to read the 6 basic books for now?
Because I know there are like a bunch of other dune books jejdjdkakdjs
no no those are the only official books actually
I MEAN..................the first six books are 100% canon and written by Frank Herbert, all the other books are by his son, Bryan Herbert, who basically used some notes of his father to.....milk his work and publish a lot of books
it's up to you, really. you can read them or chose not to consider them canon like i did, i always suggest to read the Dune Encyclopedia (you can download the pdf for free), it's not by FH and he didn't consider it canon but it's way more faithful to his work in general. i read only some extracts and i really liked it!
I’m going through the Dune series for the first time and I’m glad I am. The first book is rough because there’s so much here, nonetheless I love this whole thing and the insane adventures of desert people.
“insane adventures of desert people” perfectly sums up the whole series hahahah i’m glad you’re liking it!!!!!!
hiii! do you know who’s playin gurney in the dune movie? he’s my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE character and i don’t think i saw him in the trailer.
Yes! He’s played by Josh Brolin! here he is in the movie
