I'm already past the opening part with eragon and roran saving katrina. It's definitely one of the coolest scenes in the saga and I LOVE how the two first big moments are basically eragon and nasuada aura farming. Nasuada with the knife test thing (i don't know what it's called in english sorry) and eragon deciding the fate of sloan are the single most important contributions in their character developments: it's basically paolini telling you they are fit to rule everyone because they have compassion and humanity and inner strength beyond every other character, yes even roran, saphira, the elves, etc. No one in the book has the goodness and purity of heart eragon has, and no one is as cunning and determined as nasuada. NO ONE CAN TOUCH THEM BEST CHARACTERS SORRY IT'S TRUE
One thing that has always irked me was the progressive character assassination of Orrin. Yes i know eventually someone has to take one for the team and become a Shitty Person otherwise the story is a bit unrealistic, BUT DID IT HAVE TO BE THE FUNKY NERD CHILL KING????😭😭😭 Like i hate how they basically shit on him and Surda even tho he's one of the reasons the rebellion succeeds in the end. Orrin was giving money, resources and a land to these mfs and he gets dust in return!!! JUSTICE FOR ORRIN NEOW.
also i know. I'm annoying. I know roran gets better from now on bc he reunited with katrina and he gets to do his manly man missions, but god is he unbearable sometimes. I never EVER understood how OP he is compared to everyone including the literal main character and how somehow the narrative bends to his will. There are some scenes that really make me chuckle. Like eragon dreaming about morzan telling him to join him. He's wearing A HELMET, A CLOAK AND HE'S TELLING HIM TO JOIN HIM. Okayyy darth vader
Anyways i finished Brising and besides some parts (roran) i confirm it's still my favorite of the saga. So much happens, there's never a dull moment (maybe the election of the new dwarf king but it's still a super cool spy story moment + the farthen dur is such a cool location) and it really is the part of the story where eragon and saphira mature and become 100% dragon and rider YEAHHHHHHH
Now. If you think i wasn't gonna cry during the last parts like i've always have then you're a fool. There's something so heartbreaking (no pun intended) in SPOILER AHEAD

I'm already past the opening part with eragon and roran saving katrina. It's definitely one of the coolest scenes in the saga and I LOVE how the two first big moments are basically eragon and nasuada aura farming. Nasuada with the knife test thing (i don't know what it's called in english sorry) and eragon deciding the fate of sloan are the single most important contributions in their character developments: it's basically paolini telling you they are fit to rule everyone because they have compassion and humanity and inner strength beyond every other character, yes even roran, saphira, the elves, etc. No one in the book has the goodness and purity of heart eragon has, and no one is as cunning and determined as nasuada. NO ONE CAN TOUCH THEM BEST CHARACTERS SORRY IT'S TRUE
One thing that has always irked me was the progressive character assassination of Orrin. Yes i know eventually someone has to take one for the team and become a Shitty Person otherwise the story is a bit unrealistic, BUT DID IT HAVE TO BE THE FUNKY NERD CHILL KING????😭😭😭 Like i hate how they basically shit on him and Surda even tho he's one of the reasons the rebellion succeeds in the end. Orrin was giving money, resources and a land to these mfs and he gets dust in return!!! JUSTICE FOR ORRIN NEOW.
also i know. I'm annoying. I know roran gets better from now on bc he reunited with katrina and he gets to do his manly man missions, but god is he unbearable sometimes. If roran was so great then why no dragon choose him??? I can't stand the roran propaganda sorry guys but it gets to a point!! Let's just make him the main character then. Let's just send him to galbatorix with that fuckass hammer and a dream since he's the smartest strongest bravest of all.

There are some scenes that really make me chuckle. Like eragon dreaming about morzan telling him to join him. He's wearing A HELMET, A CLOAK AND HE'S TELLING HIM TO JOIN HIM. Okayyy darth vader
Anyways i finished Brising and besides some parts (roran) i confirm it's still my favorite of the saga. So much happens, there's never a dull moment (maybe the election of the new dwarf king but it's still a super cool spy story moment + the farthen dur is such a cool location) and it really is the part of the story where eragon and saphira mature and become 100% dragon and rider YEAHHHHHHH
Now. If you think i wasn't gonna cry during the last parts like i've always have then you're a fool. There's something so heartbreaking (no pun intended) in SPOILER AHEAD

Oromois and Glaedr's deaths, mostly the fact that you get to see what the bond between dragon and rider really means and what happens when it's cut abruptly. Also damn oromis was so reassuring to Eragon and he died literally ten seconds into the battle 💀💀💀 my washed goat

I'm already past the opening part with eragon and roran saving katrina. It's definitely one of the coolest scenes in the saga and I LOVE how the two first big moments are basically eragon and nasuada aura farming. Nasuada with the knife test thing (i don't know what it's called in english sorry) and eragon deciding the fate of sloan are the single most important contributions in their character developments: it's basically paolini telling you they are fit to rule everyone because they have compassion and humanity and inner strength beyond every other character, yes even roran, saphira, the elves, etc. No one in the book has the goodness and purity of heart eragon has, and no one is as cunning and determined as nasuada. NO ONE CAN TOUCH THEM BEST CHARACTERS SORRY IT'S TRUE
One thing that has always irked me was the progressive character assassination of Orrin. Yes i know eventually someone has to take one for the team and become a Shitty Person otherwise the story is a bit unrealistic, BUT DID IT HAVE TO BE THE FUNKY NERD CHILL KING????😭😭😭 Like i hate how they basically shit on him and Surda even tho he's one of the reasons the rebellion succeeds in the end. Orrin was giving money, resources and a land to these mfs and he gets dust in return!!! JUSTICE FOR ORRIN NEOW.
also i know. I'm annoying. I know roran gets better from now on bc he reunited with katrina and he gets to do his manly man missions, but god is he unbearable sometimes. I never EVER understood how OP he is compared to everyone including the literal main character and how somehow the narrative bends to his will. If roran was so great then why no dragon choose him??? I can't stand the roran propaganda sorry guys but it gets to a point!! Let's just make him the main character then. Let's just send him to galbatorix with that fuckass hammer and a dream since he's the smartest strongest bravest of all.
Also the irony of roran wielding some random hammer he took from horst and never damaging it but eragon breaking the most excellent sword made by dwarves in two seconds. I'M SO TIRED book 1 eragon and murtagh would have easily beat his ass using only their hands but sureee okayyyy fuck off
There are some scenes that really make me chuckle. Like eragon dreaming about morzan telling him to join him. He's wearing A HELMET, A CLOAK AND HE'S TELLING HIM TO JOIN HIM. Okayyy darth vader
Anyways i finished Brising and besides some parts (roran) i confirm it's still my favorite of the saga. So much happens, there's never a dull moment (maybe the election of the new dwarf king but it's still a super cool spy story moment + the farthen dur is such a cool location) and it really is the part of the story where eragon and saphira mature and become 100% dragon and rider YEAHHHHHHH
Now. If you think i wasn't gonna cry during the last parts like i've always have then you're a fool. There's something so heartbreaking (no pun intended) in SPOILER AHEAD

Oromois and Glaedr's deaths, mostly the fact that you get to see what the bond between dragon and rider really means and what happens when it's cut abruptly. Also damn oromis was so reassuring to Eragon and he died literally ten seconds into the battle 💀💀💀 my washed goat

oh yes i think i'm the world's only Orrin shooter at this point but his change in character is pretty drastic tbh. He starts off very charming, nerdy and funny, kinda like the chill counterpart of Nasuada (love that he taught her how to handle the stress of war etc. and suggested her to find a hobby outside the mission to keep her mental health etc.), and then he does a full 180 and becomes angry, spiteful and a cunt to everyone ESPECIALLY eragon for no fucking reason. i mean yes the reason is that he though eragon would be ready to kick galbatorix's ass in two seconds and when confronted with the truth he is not he gets a little desperate rip. to add on that, paolini heavily implies he's basically almost never sober which is a shame.
there's also the conclave scene when eragon is elected new leader of the varden after nasuada's kidnapping. the scene is basically a ten pages fight between him and orrin, with the latter basically being the manifestation of eragon's worst fears and doubts about himself. It's a very sad scene, and while I hated to see poor eragon attacked like that, narratively speaking it's a good way to show you how he isn't ready in the slightest for all the challenges he has to face and he has no political skill. BUT DAMN ORRIN.
Like I see the underlying message of his character (that war is inhuman and changes a person profoundly), but I hate that it had to be Orrin!!! OH MY GOD. but my headcanon is that after the war he accepts Nasuada's crowning and eventually with time the relationship between them becomes friendly again and he gets to be the silly nerd king he was supposed to be. for my wellbeing this is 100% factual and true lol
