Fake Cataquacks
So the Cataquacks in Super Mario Sunshine are actually Fake Cataquacks made by Bowser Junior using paint.
So if you lure a Cataquack in Sunshine to a Dune Bud and launch it into the air, when it hit the ground it splatters into painting revealing these Cataquacks to be fake. Now there are like real Cataquacks on Isle Delfino, and elsewhere on the Mushroom Planet. One of these places is probably Peach Beach from Mario Kart: Double Dash!
Other Cataquacks that are real are the ones found in Gold Leaf Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy, which is where all Cataquacks originate from. Written by Eris the Lorekeeper
