From • @dunkin.ducks I find the easiest way to describe legs bands is like the bird version of a dog collar 🦆 🐶 The main purpose is for identification. This can mean different things for different flocks though. For example, I use leg bands to make it easier to tell apart similar looking ducks (like all 3 of my white ducks for example). Breeders can use leg bands to ensure they aren’t inbreeding, by marking each duckling they hatch with a band with a specific number or color that correlates to their parents. They can also be useful to veterinary staff, and even help identify birds that are lost or stolen 🦆 🐓 #dunkinducks #superspy #petducks https://www.instagram.com/p/CP49kOfJTEj4Om4pGokBm-w5_kNPg7-vQTyhfE0/?utm_medium=tumblr
